“I found it quite easy to balance work and life when I didn’t have any work”, said Nigel Marsh during one of his Ted Talk about work-life balance.
Etienne and I have always wanted to balance these two, while launching a startup – do we need to be magicians or super heroes to manage? Can we have some fun every now and then or shall we be in “professional mode” 24/7? Are travels a NO GO; or do they come in “I don’t recommend you, but it is your life- your decisions “section? We are problem-solvers and have been working hard on finding ways to travel and work at the same time.
The idea became real in 2014, in Asia, when we used to complain about international money transfers and the supporting fees, we came up with the solution needed: a transparent single-place to go for sending money. The project has been named Moneytis for “Money transfer is simple”.

We were sharing common values with new team-members and decided to implement a travelling philosophy of work while sharing trips and challenges. Roughly a dozen hard-workers have shared values about efforts and travel! We are discovering new places and work at the same time, while benefiting from “finding the key to success” as well as from the success itself. The nomad way of working has been put in practice and it proved to be successful for us! (Nomadlist website helps).
Our whole team has already stepped feet on 3 continents, while travelling through Shanghai, Frankfurt, Milan, Paris, Geneva, Mexico, Miami, and Amsterdam!

The team is working on an exciting project… Moneytis is a startup which aims to build the booking.com of money transfers to fight huge costs of sending money overseas (7.52% fees on average according to the WorldBank); we also want to clear the situation as money transfer operators like Transferwise or WesternUnion have ever-changing fees. The tool compares the best solutions in real-time and integrates them in the platform, as booking.com does with hotels.

Right now in Amsterdam until June. Our ambition is to simultaneously maintain the growth and enjoy the rapidly growing international network, so that the project could contribute to people’s savings and be used for a good cause.
We recently joined ING Bank’s Innovation Center for a short-term program in Amsterdam. Both organizations work independently on common projects while the tool is still being optimized. We also work on the concept of future money transfers: free? instant? easy? transparent? Whatever they become in the future Moneytis will put them forward so all of us can benefit from them!
