Q: Rich, how would you describe Home Chef in your own words?
A: Home Chef is a meal kit delivery service, headquartered in Chicago, that delivers convenient, easy-to-cook meals in the form of fresh, perfectly portioned ingredients and easy-to-follow recipes right to your doorstep. The meals arrive in recyclable packaging with detailed, simple instructions along with everything needed to put together tasty home-cooked meals in around 30 minutes.

Q: Home Chef delivered more than 1 million meals last year, what is your competitive advantage?
A: Home Chef varies from competing meal delivery services because we offer more choice and variety at very affordable prices. Each week our kitchen rolls out an entirely new menu of 13 different meals that include breakfast and dinner options.
Q: Could you tell us more about your pricing?
A: Each meal is $9.95 per serving, unless otherwise specified. Occasionally, we’ll provide an entree that is $14.95 or $19.95 per serving and every week, the Home Chef menu includes a few add-on options that are $4.95 per serving (fruit basket and smoothie). For any order that is $40 or more, shipping is free.

Q: What motivates customers to stay with the company?
A: Convenience and variety. Our service allows customers to submit their dietary preferences and meal profile selections through the site, and then Home Chef will build meal plans and weekly deliveries based on their choices. Customers are able to edit their deliveries, add new meals and control exactly what they are getting out of the service. Not only does Home Chef take care of the grocery shopping and recipe searching hassles, it also provides a personalized cooking experience that keeps customers coming back for more every week.
Q: How would you convince the reader to start using Home Chef?
A: We’re here to help busy people skip the long grocery lines and online recipe fails by providing a convenient service that brings knockout new recipes and all the fresh, perfectly portioned ingredients straight to their door. Home Chef started because our founder, Pat, loves to cook but was too busy to grocery shop. He knew that others were faced with the same dilemma. That’s why we make it easy for our customers to receive a box on their doorstep with food, recipes and the answer to the most important question, “What are we having for dinner tonight?”

Q: What can we expect from Home Chef in the next six months?
A: In the past year, we have hired over 300 people and we expect to hire even more this year, as Home Chef continues to grow. This expansion extends the delivery reach of Home Chef to 90 percent of the United States and we hope to eventually cover the entire nation. Our customer demand is growing and Home Chef is working to meet that demand and bring delicious ingredients, recipes and home cooking to as many kitchens as possible.
