HRsoft is a talent management software company that caters to North American businesses. HRsoft’s HR solutions specialize in improving effectiveness through modules such as compensation planning software, applicant tracking software, total rewards communication software, performance management software, stay interview software, and content management software. Below is our interview with Brian Sharp, Chief Marketing Officer at HRsoft:

Q: Brian, what’s the best thing about HRsoft that people might not know about?

A: Probably 2 answers to this: products and people. On the products side, we are not the largest company but we’ve been around for over 10 years and have developed/acquired some amazing, industry leading technology over the years. We don’t offer every possible product in our space, but the ones we do offer are best-of-breed. We know what we are good at and that’s where we keep our focus.

That ties into the people. We have a very client-focused culture built upon a long-tenured team that has a lot of industry experience. When you are a smaller company, you can really see the impact each person makes with the clients, especially for us because we do not outsource anything. We understand helping our clients succeed takes more than great software, it takes dedicated people – and that’s what has kept our customers coming back for years.

Q: Could you explain the function and advantages of your Talent Management Software Suite?

A: We think there’s been a shift in HR technology away from automating outdated processes and towards building tools that front line managers can use to improve employee performance, retention and engagement. Unlike first generation Talent Management vendors, we build solutions, from the ground up, for front line managers to use to perform people management functions – what we call our TALENTview Management System. HR still has an important role, so our solutions give HR great visibility into what the managers are doing and how they are managing their people. But front line managers are our key audience. We have found if we can make the HR part of their job easier and more effective, then HR can help deliver the organization wide results they need.

Q: Tell us something more about your proprietary InSITE technology?

A: HRsoft’s technology is really unique. Unlike some of the massive multi-tenant solutions on the market our solution gives each client a full slice of the network infrastructure and their own instance of the data base. There’s ever increasing concern about the security of HR data and we’ve taken a very unique approach to safeguarding the information.

Another great thing is that our suite of solutions are based on a full platform that contains both the software the client is using and the tools to implement and configure the software – all within the same customer’s instance. This allows our team, the client’s team, the client’s trusted advisors all to work from the same set of requirements, SOW’s and project plans; all kept up to date in real time. And it let’s the client see how the system is being configured as the work is in progress. So there’s never a surprise at the end of the implementation. Q: Your cloud-based STAYview software seems really different, could you explain it?

A: Sure, STAYview is a great example of an HR product built to help front line managers do their jobs. Everyone in HR is concerned about improving employee retention and engagement. But the fact of the matter is, very few employees work for HR. They work for their manager. And the biggest driver of employee engagement and retention, number one by far, is the individual employee’s relationship with his or her direct manager. STAYview walks the front line manager through a one on one conversation with the employee and that conversation is all about the employee. What does she like about coming to work? How can the manager do a better job of communicating with her? What are some of the things she’d like to see changed. It’s a simple fifteen to twenty minute conversation that takes place once or twice a year. And HR has visibility into these conversations and gets a lot of great data about the things that are creating engagement, and dis-engagement, throughout the organization. This is actionable data they never really had access to before that allows them to be proactive with retention rather than reactionary to turnover.

The product is based on a lot of the science that our partner, Dick Finnegan, did when writing his book “The Power of Stay Interviews.” We claim the product improves engagement and decreases turnover by 20%. But clients who are using it are reporting far better results than that. Not to mention it recently was named the SaaS Product of the Year, so you can see why we’re really excited about it. Q: What can we expect from HRsoft in the future?

A: More products like STAYview – simple, easy to use tools that help managers build more engaged and effective teams. We believe that by evolving our product line to offer additional simple, streamlined versions that enable HR and line managers to work together better, we can drive better business results for all of our clients.
