Innovative BioTech Firm VIRUN Aims To Truly Make The Impossible Possible

Founded in 2003, VIRUN is the California based BioTech company that specializes in innovation and product development in the food, beverage and dietary supplement industry’s. The company has recently announced another patent on emulsification and encapsulation technology that harnesses vitamin E. Below is our interview with Philip Bromley, CEO at VIRUN:

Philip Bromley, VirunQ: Philip, tell us something more about VIRUN and your core competence?

A:
Our core competency is innovation and product development in the food, beverage and dietary supplement industry’s. VIRUN® NutraBIOsciences® is a company that everyone wants to be a part of. Dubbed as the “Google” of the food, beverage and supplement industry’s; VIRUN creates products for companies that are fresh and gain marketability in a commodity driven economy. What do I mean about commodity driven economy? I mean, the other products on the market are not any different than what anyone else could sell themselves. The commodity driven economy is led by the large food and beverage manufacturers, we call, Commodity-Junk-Pushers. VIRUN produces products for our clients that truly are trend-setters. Not to mention, VIRUN and our employees are simply, just, rad!

Q: You’ve recently announced another patent on emulsification and encapsulation technology that harnesses vitamin E; tell us something more?

A: Esolv® is a new encapsulator that is in a liquid or powder form. Esolv® utilizes natural Vitamin E that is a substitute for the the synthetically derived chemicals currently used in products, such as, Polysorbates, Hydrogenated Castor Oil PEG 40, Polyoxyethanol etc.… One reason we see junky products on the market is due to formulation. Adding B Vitamins, Vitamin C and Minerals to products, like beverages, shots etc.… is super easy, not much different than adding sugar to coffee. However, adding Omega 3 DHA EPA into beverages and food is extremely difficult to do. In addition to this, there are so many other incredible nutrients that never make into consumable products. Lutein, Lycopene, Astaxanthin, CoQ10 and MCT’s from Coconut Oil are just a few examples. Also, there are is a huge collection of fatty acids, similar to Omega 3 DHA, that have astronomical health benefits that most consumers are not aware of. Actually, I don’t think the commodity-junk-pushers, the big food and beverage companies, want you to be aware of. Some examples of these fatty acids are, SDA Omega 3, ARA, GLA, Nervonic Acid (an omega 9 with crazy neurological effects). Esolv® makes all this happen. Adding Esolv® alongside all these great nutrients allow us to make these amazing products for our clients and enables profitability and innovation.

Q: Could you explain the most prominent advantages of your technology?

A: The biggest advantage VIRUN has to offer is that we truly make the impossible possible. VIRUN NutraBiosciences produces the only stable form of EPA DHA through a patented bicarbonate extraction technology along with Esolv®. We deliver doses of 1500mg EPA DHA per tablespoon in our multi-serving, great tasting, Omega smoothies for kids and adults. We add new brain and mitochondrial proliferating nutrients to beverages, supplements and shots, such as PQQ, MCT and Glutathione. Consumers don’t want just caffeine infused vitamins in water, soda, coffee, smoothies, shots etc. Consumers want to feel good, thrive and be able to conquer the world in just 12 hours – you know, like a typical work day. I personally consume 300mg of our patented Glutathione which is bound to Lactoferrin, a 28 amino acid protein that is shown to inhibit degradation. I consume 3000mg of our Esolv® OmegH2O® EPA DHA Omega 3 daily. I take 600mg of our Esolv® Vitamin E Tocopherol which has been shown to reduce the risk of many metabolic disorders.. VIRUN has a clear dissolving Vitamin D3 that is 100,000 IU per gram. I don’t take that much, but I do take 5,000IU per day, this is our Esolv® 100,000 D Clear used in Vitamin type waters etc. This alone allows my immune system to be a super power house, even stronger than Khaleesi’s army-of-dragons form Game of Thrones. VIURN’s advantages are endless and we offer so much in formulation and product development, and we do all this with clean label claim, Whole Foods friendly and new product differentiation.

Q: What geographic markets are you focusing on currently?

A:
VIRUN NutraBIOsciences has focused on U.S. and Canadian markets, primarily, until last year and earlier this year, when we had a series of patents get approved in EU and Asia. Since then, we have flourished in product development. I think the biggest reason, alongside our patents, is due to the heavy and stringent regulatory surrounding acceptable excipients used in products that allow these ingredients to be stable. Also, claims need to be justified. In order to have value added claims around a new food, beverage or supplement, there needs to be efficacious doses of these ingredients, such as EPA DHA, protein, Glutathione etc. We can add protein, MCT, Glutathione and EPA DHA al in one single serving with insane concentrations, yet, taste great. High concentration of actives and being able to add multiple ingredients in the same formulation have been prohibiting factors in products being marketed and commercialized outside the U.S. VIRUN delivers and we are exploding in these markets. Companies wanting to develop new products for global markets often contact us and we formulate their product and produce their finished product for them. I think global markets will be our largest market in the next 10 to 20 years for these reasons.

Q: What are your plans for next six months?

A:
Our goal is to completely revise our brand image from ingredients, to a technology based company that researches and develops products for our clients. This along with full manufacturing capabilities, co-packaging and even branding. We have grown so much since our inception in 2003 that people don’t know how capable our capabilities actually are! We have recently hired a new Director of Marketing to help us grow innovation with our clients and partners. We also aim to make the consumer healthier, smarter and happy by supplementing foods, beverages and supplements with nutrients that need to be in such products. We want to replace commodity-junk products with new and improved, next generation, millennial inspired foods and supplements that actually live up to their claims. From stable, Lactoferrin bound Probiotics in ambient beverages to improve gut health, all the way to adding stable Glutathione to water that evidence has shown can prevent hang overs. VIRUN is the future and we want you, our client and the consumer, to be prosperous through innovation and novel product development. This is how the “google of the food and beverage industry,” VIRUN, will make a difference in our industry in the next 6 months.
