IRYStec’s Perceptual Display Platform Embedded Software Technology Replicates How The Human Eye Sees

Listen to this article

IRYStec is one of the leading innovators of perceptual display processing technology. Providing Perceptual Display Platform (PDP) embedded software solutions, IRYStec enables consumer device and automotive OEMs to optimize their display device viewing experience and performance. Below is our interview with Simon Morris, CEO at IRYSTEC:

Q: You’ve recently closed Series-A financing with investments from BDC Capital, Tandemlaunch and angel investors; could you tell us something more?

A: Series-A investment over-subscribed and was led by Purple Angels who also invested in previous company that CEO Simon Morris lead called CogniVue which was acquired last year by Freescale/NXP Semiconductors.

Q: Could you explain the most prominent advantages of your IRYStec’s PDP technology?

A: Displays today are manufactured with assumption that all eyes are the same, the eyes of 25 year old male, and that all viewers are viewing the display in room lighting. This is clearly not the case and has led to several major problems such as increased eye strain and un-necessarily high display brightness and power consumption. Perceptual Display Platform (PDP) technology emulates how the human eye works using light weight image processing algorithms. Software products based on PDP technology substantially improves the visibility of all content on all displays. The improved visibility substantially reduces eye strain, but use of PDP technology can also result in much less power consumption which leads to longer display device battery life.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your products?

A: The first software products based on PDP technology will improve content visibility on displays in both dark ambient light and bright ambient light conditions. A software product optimized for mobile phone and tablet applications is already being integrated into mobile phones and will be officially announced and released for production by end of 2016. A similar product designed to meet the quality and safety requirements of automotive applications will be released in 2017.
