Q: Meg, how would you describe Nexus Direct in your own words?

A: We’re a small business doing big things in the direct response marketing space, both in the states and internationally. We help a diverse set of clients identify, target, and connect with their audience through online, offline, and multi-channel strategies, ultimately fostering meaningful engagements and experiences that result in creating customers or donors. Being a full service agency, there isn’t much we can’t do for our clients, and we like it that way.

Q: What advantage does Nexus Direct have over its competitors?

A: Our people. The talent and experience that I am surrounded by every day is unparalleled. And what makes our team truly unique is that they all come together at the same table to strategize and problem solve for our clients regardless of their department or background. We don’t get buried in our “silos” or simply swim in our own lanes. Every project we work on has a diverse group of people working on it from start to finish, with the thought that the best ideas and solutions are the result of good collaboration.

Q: Who is your ideal client and why?

A: We work with a variety of clients, but regardless of what industry they are in or the nature of their business, the thing we look for to confirm that they would be a good match for us is that they are looking for a partner and not a vendor — because that’s not what we are.

We view ourselves as an extension of every client’s marketing team, taking on their biggest challenges as our own. If you’re simply an order taker and not providing any strategy or thinking beyond the scope, then the relationship is destined to be short lived. And since we’re in the business of being engagement experts and helping our clients to develop long-lasting relationships, it’s important for us to implement those same practices ourselves. We push the envelope — or as we like to refer to it, “tip the sacred cows” in our industry — encouraging our clients to break the norms of direct response marketing and challenging them to try nontraditional techniques.

Although we have extensive background in the nonprofit, political, insurance, and financial verticals, targeted messaging to segmented audiences is truly our ideal project, regardless of the industry.

Q: What can we expect from you in the next six months?

A: Staying in our comfort zone is not an option. We are dedicated to being lifelong learners and are committed to being out in front of industry trends for our clients. As we enter into our 12th year of doing business, we anticipate continued growth both here in the United States and internationally, a complete website redesign, and the inclusion of innovative technology such as virtual reality as a part of our clients’ programs.

Q: What’s the best thing about Nexus Direct that people might not know about?

A: Our company is passionate about giving back. It’s not just something we check off our list each year, but remains a consistent focus for us. Whether we’re hosting a #DecorationForDonation contest, giving client gifts that are tied back to causes that are important to us like Food & Friend’s Slice of Life Thanksgiving pies, or volunteering our time monthly to support drives and community involvement, being active members of the communities we are located within is of the utmost importance to us.
