Q: Jeff, tell us something about Pacific Oak Real Estate and its history that many people may not know?
A: Pacific Oak Real Estate was something that was in the works for a long time before we officially opened the doors for business. I created it to fill a void that I saw in the real estate industry in San Diego. Over the years, I had noticed a lack of professionalism in the real estate industry in the area. Having spent time in the banking world as a mortgage banker, I learned to appreciate the professional business world. When I re-entered the real estate field, I set out with the intention to go above and beyond.
Over my many years of experience, I have been able to hand pick a team of professionals who share my same work ethic. As my support staff, these are people who stand out in their fields and are passionate about helping their clients reach their goals.

Q: What allows Pacific Oak Real Estate to stand out from its competitors?
A: Our client representation is truly second-to-none. We are in the industry because we care about helping people through the buying and selling process. We are not in real estate just to make a quick buck. Our background in mortgage banking is also a differentiating factor. We are able to help clients from start to finish—from loan pre-approval to escrow close.
We also place a high emphasis on honesty. Real estate agents deal with what is, for most people, their largest asset. At Pacific Oak Real Estate, we don’t take that lightly. Clients (both buyers and sellers) deserve professional representation, and we make sure we deliver that for every client.
Q: What changes do you see in the current North County, San Diego real estate landscape?
A: Home rental prices in the San Diego area have been on the rise for years, and this year is proving to be no different. With the current low interest rates for mortgage loans, as well as the forecast for even higher rental prices in the future, now is a great time for first time homebuyers to get serious about purchasing a home. It’s also a great time for more established homeowners to purchase another property for investment. With rental prices going up, the economics of owning a rental property makes a lot of sense for many people.

Q: Do you have any particular advice for first time homebuyers in the San Diego area?
A: I always recommend that first time homebuyers get in touch with a good mortgage lender early on in process. So many people start looking at homes before they even know how much a bank will lend them. This can set them up for some serious disappointment when reality hits.
A good lender will review financial, employment, and credit information with potential homebuyers, and will also educate them about the options available to them. Homebuyers need to know their options, including those available to first time homebuyers. They should understand how large of a loan they qualify for, what their total monthly payment may be, and how much they will need to put down as a down payment.
The entry level housing market is very competitive in the San Diego area, so having a solid loan approval in place before beginning the home search process is extremely important.

Q: What are your plans for Pacific Oak Real Estate in the next six months?
A: Pacific Oak Real Estate is off to a great start this year. We officially launched as a full service brokerage firm and have added six agents to our team. We plan to use this momentum to grow as a company, while continuing to provide excellent professional service to all of our clients.
