Q: Who are the primary users of ProgeSOFT SA?
A: progeCAD Professional, ProgeSOFT’s flagship product, is a general-purpose 2D/3D DWG/DXF-native CAD. The program is intended for general technical drafting and this fact in itself implies that the software has quite a vast field of application. progeCAD users come from every possible field. They are engineers, architects, designers, drafters working for organizations from a wide range of industrial sectors, still progeCAD users are not only CAD professionals. Among our clients there are also non-expert CAD users such as managers of real estate agencies, data archives, housing and communal services, inventory organizations and one can continue with this list for a good while. In short, progeCAD Professional is fine where DWG drawing files are utilized. The reason is that DWG is the most widely spread drawing format, the standard of the CAD market, which can be found everywhere. Thanks to the native support of DWG/DXF by progeCAD Professional and the fact of being economic in terms of its licence cost, our CAD package is an invaluable tool for DWG drawing files management. AutoCAD, the market leader with DWG-native support, is too expensive for non-expert CAD users who don’t need to work with the program on a daily basis. Why should these organizations waste their money, when they can get a tool to suit their purpose just as well and pay only a fraction of the price of AutoCAD or other costly CAD programs. Besides, our program look and functioning are similar to AutoCAD® and AutoCAD LT® which give us another category of primary users: the progeCAD package is an interesting solution for AutoCAD users, especially for those who remained with older AutoCAD versions or who use AutoCAD LT or who do not agree with Autodesk’s new subscription system. Q: What are some of the key challenges you are helping your users solve?
A: Pointing out some key challenges solved thanks to progeCAD Professional, by all means we need to name DWG-compatibility practically with all AutoCAD DWG versions, a product affordable price and the perpetual licensing which ProgeSOFT will continue offering to its users. ProgeSOFT SA makes available to those working with DWG drawings a valid inexpensive software program with timeless licensing which not only lets view and edit DWG/DXF drawings but also offers a good number of additional plugins and tools integrated in progeCAD Professional at no extra costs for progeCAD users. There are a series of handy modules inside the progeCAD Professional CAD package, such as the PDF to DWG converter, PDF export with Layer support which add to better project sharing capabilities; the EasyArch module for quicker floor plan creation which also works in 3D, ESRI Shape Import facilitating data management in the GIS field to name but a few. Helping to overcome little everyday chores without going out of the budget, I believe, is the key challenge nowadays. And we give a helping hand to cope with plenty of small daily tasks! Q: You’ve recently announced progeCAD 2018 Professional; tell us something more?
A: ProgeCAD 2018, our new major release, has improved software general performance on the one hand. Increasing the use of the Multi-Core technology, program operations are now quicker and smoother compared to the previous version. So, some of our efforts were applied to enhance the engine of our CAD platform. On the other hand, we have incorporated more useful in everyday work plug-ins, such as the Perspective Image Correction tool which helps to adjust photo distortions directly in progeCAD. This plug-in facilitates the process of image insertion in a drawing. We’ve also revised the Render module, integrating the new render engine in progCAD 2018. The new render module is so easy that non-expert users will be able to create stunning photorealistic images of their projects in just no time. Also many new features appeared in the new version, such as the superhatch command, ESRI SHAPE import, defaults layers, the new in-place text editors and some others.

Q: What makes progeCAD 2018 Professional a good choice?
A: First of all, progeCAD 2018 is true to its once defined licensing model, you get the program after a one-off payment and progeCAD’s perpetual licence won’t expire in time. Also our single license designed for one User offers maximum flexibility through the additional installation possibility assured by the licensing agreement. Secondly, you get the most updated version of the product compatible with the rapidly advancing technologies and with the latest AutoCAD DWG file formats. Thirdly, the full licence fee is more than reasonable, to say nothing of even lower fees charged for upgrades. And finally, if you are an AutoCAD user, you don’t need to go through any training to get started with progeCAD 2018 Professional. And revealing a secret, AutoCAD users may even avoid buying a progeCAD 2018 Professional licence at a full price, as we are offering cross-upgrade special fees for switching from other CAD products legal licences.
Q: What motivates customers to stay with the company?
A: progeCAD 2018 is the fruit of collaboration between the progeSOFT team and progeCAD users. That’s very motivating. ProgeSOFT SA is gradually improving its CAD package enriching it with new functionality requested by its Users. progeCAD users with an active position who submit observations, suggestions, bugs and crash reports know that their wishes are gradually coming true. It is a long process as the progeCAD community is quite big and well scattered all over the world, but we are in constant dialog with our users and keep on implementing functionality they request. This is our approach which we apply to both tasks, bugs fixing and new functionality introduction, they both come from our Users’ necessities encountered working with the software. So we have a firm believe that being close to your Users , listen to their needs and cooperate with them are the basics of Customer loyalty.
Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: We’ll keep on going in the same direction, offering a complete 2D/3D DWG/DXF CAD package at an affordable price, implementing the new functionality according to our users’ wish list, fixing existing bugs and enhancing the CAD engine. We’ll also keep on offering the perpetual licensing, though we are evaluating the possibility to insert the Subscription model for those interested in it as well.
