RoyseLaw provides legal services to growing companies, high net worth individuals and investment funds in technology. Royse Law has recently announced the third annual Silicon Valley AgTech Conference for tech startups focused on agricultural applications. Below is our interview with Roger Royse, the founder of Royse Law Firm:

Roger Royse rroyselaw

Q: Roger, what advantage does RoyseLaw have over its competitors?

A: As a small firm that practices at a high and sophisticated level, we stress service, quality and value. Our billing rates are comparable to the low rates charged by small firms while our deals are of the type typically handled by large firms. We provide superior service because our clients are startup, small and closely held companies, and are not competing for our attention with large premium billed clients. Finally, our 24 lawyers have hundreds of years of combined experience, many of them having been trained at the largest firms in the Silicon Valley.

Q: Could you tell us more about the annual RoyseLaw Silicon Valley AgTech Conference?

A: Our annual agtech conference is the premier event in Silicon Valley, and perhaps the country, for tech startups focused on agricultural applications. Now in our third year, we focus on the newest tech coming out of the Silicon Valley (and beyond) and bring the tech community together with investors, entrepreneurs, farmers and large ag companies. This event sells out every year, and we have doubled our space this year to accommodate the 500 to 700 expected attendees.

Q: What will the Conference include?

A: We will host panels and presentations on specific topics such as big data, sustainable protein, the China market, the outlook for investment, international advances in agtech, and the law of agtech. We will also have a large exhibit hall where startups can display new tech products. The highlight is always our pitch panel, where several agtech startups pitch their companies to a panel of judges.

Q: What’s the best thing about RoyseLaw AgTech Innovation Network that people might not know about?

A: The best thing is the networking. Every year several companies get funded, find new customers or acquire leads at the conference. It’s a combination of a CES, investor showcase and business conference for agtech. Be sure to stay for the cocktail hour.

Q: What can we expect from RoyseLaw in the future?

A: We are very big on providing useful information to individuals, startups and businesses of all sizes by showcasing our expertise in all media – events, articles, webinars, and blogs. We run an annual Tax Camp for CPAs, where we cover tax law basics and developments. We also host an international expo where our clients can interact with the universe of resources in the Bay area for companies expanding offshore. New this year will be our exit strategies symposium, where we examine the newest developments in planning for a high after tax exit. We are also in our second year of sponsoring Silicon Valley FilmTech, a community for tech companies focused on the large entertainment market.
