Springbot – Helps eCommerce SMBs Grow By Taking Data-Driven Marketing Actions

Springbot delivers an eCommerce marketing platform to small and medium businesses. Springbot has increased its customer base by more than 500 percent over the past 12 months and earlier this year raised $6 Million in a new round of funding. Here is our interview with Brooks Robinson, Co-Founder and CEO of Atlanta-based Springbot:

Brooks-RobinsonQ: Springbot was founded in 2012, what is your startup story?

A: My first startup experience was as co-founder of Atlanta-based Cbeyond – a pioneer in providing telecom and IT services to SMBs. By 2011, it had become a publicly-traded company with 2,000 employees, $500 million in revenue, and branches nationwide. And I was ready to start a new venture – enter Springbot.

In 2012, I joined forces with two other entrepreneurs, Joe Reger and Allen Nance. I met both gentlemen as an entrepreneur-in-residence at the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) at Georgia Tech, and launched Springbot in 2012.

The driving factor behind Springbot is that small and medium online stores need the same data-driven marketing solutions used by large online retailers, but they need it to be a simple, affordable and automated solution that makes the most of their limited resources while increasing their revenue and marketing ROI.

Q: You raised $6 Million in a new round of funding earlier this year, what are your plans?

A: Springbot has increased its customer base by more than 500 percent over the past 12 months and currently serves more than 400 online retailers.

Our growth has been accelerating and this latest funding will be used to continue investing in our innovative eCommerce marketing platform and continue increasing our sales, marketing and customer experience efforts.

We currently employ 40 people in Atlanta and plan to add an additional 60 people over the next year. To accommodate this growth, we have recently relocated from the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) at Georgia Tech to a significantly expanded office at Colony Square in Midtown Atlanta.

Q: How does Springbot help online stores to drive more traffic and conversions?

A: Springbot delivers an eCommerce marketing platform to small and medium businesses (SMBs). Q: Do you have any particular advice for online stores planning to increase sales?

A: It’s really simple. You MUST understand your store’s data so that you know what is and is not working.

Growing an online store doesn’t happen from any single activity, and it doesn’t happen overnight. It happens when you’re continually getting better and optimizing your marketing efforts to deliver the best possible customer experience that then lead to sales. Doing this requires shifting your thinking away from one-off marketing tactics, and instead focusing on a personalized approach that helps you understand your customers through the entire buying cycle. And to do this, you must understand who your customers are, how they purchase, when they purchase, what they purchase, what campaigns and content got them to make their first purchase so that you can continue to create a personalized approach to get them coming back for more.
