Below is our interview with Sanjay Uppal, CEO & Co-founder at VeloCloud:
Q: Sanjay, VeloCloud seems to have had a tremendous 2016. Tell us some highlights about the year.
A: 2016 was a momentous year for VeloCloud. We feel that this was the year when the market was able to clearly distinguish between the well-architected SD-WAN solutions and the wannabees who have hitched on to the SD-WAN bandwagon. VeloCloud had a record year with sales climbing 8x over the previous year, total customer wins reaching 600 and the number of sites crossing 50,000. These industry leading numbers include the world’s two largest SD-WAN wins. Leading Service Providers including AT&T, Sprint, TelePacific, EarthLink NewCloud Networks and Mitel announced VeloCloud Powered SD-WAN solutions, in addition to those already working with VeloCloud including Vonage and MetTel. Finally, VeloCloud received 13 top industry awards in 2016 including the Frost & Sullivan Award for product leadership, the Best of VMworld Award in Networking & Virtualization, and was named a Gartner “Cool Vendor” in Enterprise Networking.
Q: Multiple Tier 1 and Tier 2 Service Providers have recently announced VeloCloud Powered SD-WAN solutions. Why are they choosing VeloCloud?
A: Indeed! VeloCloud SD-WAN for Service Providers has become the industry’s most broadly selected SD-WAN solution by the leading Tier 1 and Tier 2 carriers. The carriers have carefully evaluated all available SD-WAN solutions thru a rigorous selection process. Windstream’s SD-WAN integrates a hybrid network and offers a full suite of voice and data solutions. Windstream boasts thousands of customers who trust them to provide innovative technologies, customized solutions, an expanding network and responsive support team. With their SD-WAN solution, Windstream plans to deliver reliable, secure communications solutions that fuel productivity and growth for their customers.
Q: What can we look forward to from VeloCloud in 2017?
A: We are very excited about what lies ahead in 2017. We are seeing accelerating adoption of SD-WAN by enterprises because the value proposition and ROI is so clear. VeloCloud has a unique, service-based business model and we expect both a rapid expansion in the number of customers as well as an expansion in the number of branches deployed by our current customers. Our partnerships with the many Service Providers, Systems Integrators and VARs enable VeloCloud SD-WAN to be deployed in thousands of midsized to the largest enterprises they have relationships with. Most analysts following our space have projected dramatic growth for SD-WAN in the next 3-5 years and 2017 is going to be a pivotal year in making that a reality.
