123FormBuilder Helps Users Without Technical Skills Create Any Type Of Online Form

Below is our recent interview with Florin Cornianu, CEO at 123FormBuilder:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to 123FormBuilder?

A: Tudor and I started 123FormBuilder about 10 years ago, when we needed a faster way to build contact forms for our online projects. With a lot of work and a fair amount of luck, 123FormBuilder evolved into a powerful platform that helps users without technical skills create any type of online form.

Q: You’ve recently delivered four groundbreaking new form features; could you tell us something more?

A: Indeed, the last few months have been very productive for us.

The largest project we’ve been working on is definitely the release of our new form editor, which is now live for all users. We strongly believe in our mission to provide a very easy way to create any type of web form. Customer feedback was signalling that we needed to look at the way our users actually create forms and their experience during the whole process, so we did just that.

With the new editor we’ve simplified almost everything, aiming to make form building as intuitive as it can be. Form style can be customized inside the the editor, with no need to load another page. Question fields automatically stay together with an improved drag-and-drop interface. Processing speed for some of our advanced features has increased significantly, since we’ve changed the base architecture on which the editor is built. Building forms has grown from something that was relatively easy to do, to an actual pleasure.

Besides the new editor, we’ve added an undo/redo function that makes it easy to correct mistakes or simply revert to an older version of a form. Users now have 800 new fonts to choose from to style forms, and we’ve added a way to bulk edit form field settings by selecting multiple fields and centrally changing the settings.

With the release of the new editor, we’ll be launching new features much faster thanks to the new architecture I mentioned above, so look for more good stuff coming soon.

Q: What are some of the use cases of your platform?

A: Oh, we’ve got a lot of them. Our product is designed to be very versatile, so it can handle a lot of different scenarios that many businesses have, and multiple departments can benefit from the use of forms.

One great example of how healthcare organizations use forms in their activities comes from a dental clinic from Southern California. The clinic was struggling to find a cost-effective solution for booking appointments with patients, so staff decided to scrap a previous tool and try out our online forms.

Now, the clinic is paying 10 times less than it was, while enjoying a fully automated flow for booking appointments, including an email notification for each booking. The clinic can also personalize forms with a lot of options, and the whole booking process is much easier than before.

We also cater to larger corporations through our enterprise services. Most enterprise users come to us with one specific need in mind, but they soon find out that the flexibility of our service allows them to do much more than they’d anticipated. We have enterprise clients from all over the world, with various business needs.

One great enterprise use case is a client who wanted to embed 123FormBuilder into their current service offer, as part of a full package. Yes, that’s right, the client wanted to embed our whole platform into theirs. For this to work, we set up the client’s account with a white label version of our product, which is basically our whole platform stripped of any branded elements, for the client to customize as desired.

This client is active in the healthcare industry and offers a platform for doctors to access electronic medical records (EMR). What differentiates our forms from a dedicated EMR platform is the perspective ours are built from. Instead of using a platform made by developers for doctors, the client has now shifted to a platform made by doctors, for doctors. Our product doesn’t require coding know-how, so it was easy for the client to implement it exactly the way they wanted.

Other enterprise cases have included requests such as meeting HIPAA security measures, which are a rigorous security standard for anyone handling medical records in the U.S. We offer HIPAA compliance on our enterprise forms, so it wasn’t a problem to get the client’s forms approved. We usually start an engagement with a HIPAA training, during which we explain the security measures we take and how the client’s compliance scenario will be implemented. A Business Associate Agreement is then signed to verify that everything will remain compliant with regulations.

Q: How do you help in preventing cyber-attacks?

A: About 5 years ago, our bounty program for hackers got listed on a popular industry website. Since that time, our forms have been tested constantly. Not only that, but some of our key enterprise customers wouldn’t give the green light to our product until they had performed a “reasonable” amount of penetration tests. All of those testing activities have forced us to stay on top of our game and continue to develop new features with product security in mind.

Over the past two years, we’ve invested a lot of resources into enhancing our security and developing our Compliance Cloud package. We are now ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certified, which is a great addition to our way of doing business.

We’ve also focused on being HIPAA compliant for our US customers in the medical field, with additional compliance options to come this year.

Here are some of the general security measures we take:

• Brute force protection (limited to 5 login attempts)
• SSL protected forms
• Data encryption with AES 256 bits
• Virus scanning for uploaded files
• WAF protection
• Activity log showing who did what, with ability to filter actions by certain parameters
• Daily backups
• Anti-spam protection with a submission limit by IP, number of submissions or date
• Optimal form access based on user authentication, further enhancing control over who can see and submit forms
• Single-tenant installation
• Password protection for each form
• $1 million in insurance with our Compliance plan

Additionally, this year GDPR will finally be enforced in the EU. This shift won’t take us by surprise because we already have a lot of security measurements and policies in place that apply to both ISO and GDPR. Achieving GDPR compliance was simply a matter of polishing what we already had in place.

Q: What can we expect from 123FormBuilder in the future?

A: The future is very exciting from our point of view. We’re committed to providing the best experience when building online forms and we always listen to our users. However, we’ve also noticed an interesting tend: more and more companies are thinking of web forms as a vital part of their workflows and business processes.

Because of that, we’re developing new products to address their needs and help them save time and money by digitizing and automating workflows. We’re excited for what’s coming next!
