An Interview With CEO Of TenderHut Group, Robert Strzelecki

Listen to this article

TenderHut is a dynamically growing technology capital group with 11 subsidiaries and branches in 8 countries around the world, besides Poland: China, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, United Kingdom, France, Denmark, Switzerland. The capital group is listed for the third time in the ranking of the fastest-growing companies in Europe FT1000.

Below is our recent interview with Robert Strzelecki, CEO of TenderHut Group:

Q: Robert, let’s start with your background. What were you doing before TenderHut?

A: “After graduating from the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in my home city of Warsaw, I began working in the IT Industry as a programmer, later on as a director and eventually manager at several different companies such as Rydoo and Intive. I had the privilege of participating in over 100 completed projects, in both the Polish and global markets. These projects were carried out in both the commercial and public sectors. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial streak, however I didn’t take advantage of it immediately. But after a while in the workforce, I came to one simple conclusion: I was tired of working for others. With a lot of work and commitment, we were able to develop two companies which were sold for significant profits. After that, I knew it was time to build something of my own.”

Q: What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in launching your business and how did you overcome it?

A: “The biggest challenge was to make the decision to start my own business. I had a good job, position and prestige in a company widely recognized in the market – why change it? I wondered to myself. My mentor and friend, Waldemar Birk, who unfortunately is no longer with us, helped me make the decision to take the leap. Together we dared to take this first step. Working with him was by far the best lesson in business for me. He was the one who made me realize that success can only be achieved by working together, in an atmosphere of cooperation and mutual support. He taught me how to be a proper CEO. This period of rapid development was also an interesting moment. We grew so fast that dozens of new employees were coming in every day. The implementation of the development strategy adopted by the management board was a big challenge. But taking care of employees and our technological advancement were enough to get it under control.”

Q: Can you tell us something more about your other companies? What are their main objectives? What types of services do they offer?

A: “We have 11 companies in the TenderHut Group family cooperating closely with each other. SoftwareHut deals with the creation of IT systems and IT outsourcing. At the end of 2018, SoftwareHut recorded a revenue of 4.68 million EUR, corresponding to an increase in revenue between 2015 and 2018 equal to 3,090.2%. Its average annual growth rate (CAGR) in 2015-2018 was 217.2%. Most of the company’s turnover (95%) is generated in foreign markets. According to the Financial Times ranking, the company is the fastest-growing IT company in Poland. LegalHut provides full legal advice for companies within the IT and high-tech sectors. ProtectHut focuses on cybersecurity. ExtraHut provides services in the field of UX & Design. Solution4Labs has been implementing LIMS class systems in laboratories for years, and the most interesting part is that they created an innovative lab software called Holo4Labs. The program is dedicated for use on the Microsoft HoloLens 2 augmented reality goggles, specifically for the purposes of laboratory research. Thanks to Holo4Labs, lab workers can seamlessly control all the usual functions through voice or gesture commands. Holo4Labs saves time, money and helps to fully control and neutralize mistakes made while working in the lab. It is the perfect solution for companies who want to carry out a cost-effective digital transformation of their laboratories.

Another exciting startup we’re proud of is Zonifero – a PropTech SaaS platform for office and building management. Zonifero helps to manage your office smartly, optimize costs related to services and space, and increase the comfort of work with just one system. It generates savings on office operating costs up to as much as 25.6% versus traditional systems.

Lastly, our newest member to the family is Grow Uperion, a smart HRTech solution for complex problems in organisations, caused by low employee engagement. One of TenderHut’s most recent investments was its engagement in the Grow Uperion startup. By combining knowledge in the field of motivation psychology, and TenderHut’s technological capacities, an innovative platform for employee education, development and motivation is being instituted at large corporate brands such as Mondelez and Unilever.”

Q: Can you give us any hints as to what else we might expect to see from TenderHut this year?

A: “As one of the few global companies from Central Europe, we want to be able to support our clients in the “Follow The Sun” strategy – by having offices in key time zones. This is particularly required to service clients for whom we develop SaaS platforms operating on a 24/7 model or laboratory systems of international corporations.

As a technology group, we react to the current situation, creating solutions and software that address priority issues. The Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown of the economy have led us to reassess our product portfolio and adapt it to the new situation. Thanks to this, our Zonifero application, which supports management of office buildings, has been equipped with the VIRUS Alert module, which makes it possible to report Covid-19 infections and reduces spread of the virus by using Bluetooth technology to evaluate the distance between users. In combination with the app’s desk reservation module (Hot Desk feature), this new module will allow Zonifero clients to gradually bring their employees back to the office. We’ve also been able to use the software from Grow Uperion, and have now adapted it to the needs of students and teachers in schools who transitioned to remote learning. Holo4Labs is a winner as it enables laboratory workers to work remotely during the pandemic. We are also developing a wholly new product – Holo4Triage, which will facilitate medical exams more efficiently, and reduce the risk of infection for medical personnel on the front lines of the fight against COVID-19 through the application of its mixed reality technology.”
