Below is our recent interview with Dan Nottingham, Creator of AmICredible.ai:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction?
A: Thanks for speaking with me today. We recently launched AmICredible, a new AI-based application that proactively checks the credibility of what you want to say before you post it online, reducing the spread of misinformation and restoring trust in online conversations. Users can check a statement in seconds, see a credibility score, understand the reasoning behind it, and share all of this with others from within the app.
AmICredible is not about telling people what to think. It’s about giving them confidence in their own judgment, helping them pause before they post, and empowering them to take responsibility for what they choose to share. Since the internet has effectively made all of us publishers, AmICredible acts like a kind of chief editor, one that works for everyone.
For me, this work has been both personal and purposeful. It’s about restoring credibility to public conversation, encouraging accountability, and proving that technology can be used to strengthen how we evaluate information instead of amplifying those who manipulate it.
Q: I’ve heard of fact-checking tools before. How are you unique?
A: Fact checking tools ask if something is true or false. But, a fact can be delivered in a misleading or confusing way; similarly, a well-crafted lie can be very convincing at first glance.
AmICredible is focused on credibility. What we have to say is heavily influenced by how we say it, and AmICredible is the only application that reflects that nuance. We combine factuality with context to assess the credibility of a statement. We give it a credibility score, an analysis, and links to the sources that were used to create the summary.
We provide a user-friendly experience that empowers everyone to be credible. A user can check a statement, revise it, challenge it, and share it on social platforms – all from within the application. When they share the statement, a link back to their analysis is provided with sources to demonstrate where the analysis came from.

Q: Why is credibility more important than ever?
A: A 2024 Free Press study found that four out of five Americans worry about online misinformation. At the same time, only 36% say they trust the media. That combination—high anxiety and low trust—creates a dangerous vacuum. When people don’t know what to believe, they either shut down or retreat into echo chambers, letting others decide reality for them. That’s how confirmation bias spreads.
Traditional media is in a precarious position. News outlets are businesses under pressure, and social media platforms reward clicks and outrage more than accuracy. Misinformation isn’t slowing down—it’s being monetized.
That’s why credibility matters more than ever. When credibility vanishes, trust collapses—and without trust, communities fracture and democracy weakens. We can’t wait for governments or media companies to fix this. The responsibility lies with all of us. That’s why we say, “Credibility starts with you.” By holding ourselves accountable—one statement at a time—we begin to restore the foundation for healthier conversations and stronger communities.
Q: Who is your ideal user and why?
A: AmICredible is for everyone. People are tired of seeing misinformation online, and this application gives them a way to be part of the solution.
Take brands, for example. They depend on credibility for everything—from keeping customers to attracting top talent. Consumers and employees are far more likely to support companies they trust.
The media can also benefit. Before they publish or post, they can check not only the facts but also the context—how those facts are positioned—so their statements are as credible as possible.
Corporate communications and executives hold enormous influence. A single comment can sway stock prices or shape brand perception. That’s why it’s simply good business to check what you’re about to say before it becomes part of the public record.
In education, professors and students can use AmICredible to build lesson plans and research papers backed by highly-credible sources.
Anyone with a large following on social media can lead by example, influencing their followers at scale and encouraging real debate instead of fueling heated arguments.
And everyday users? They can become community champions for credibility just by checking what they post before sharing. Because at the end of the day, credibility starts with each of us.

Q: What can we expect from you in the next 12 months? What are your plans?
A: On the development side, we have an aggressive roadmap, and mobile app development is already underway. But more importantly, we are constantly learning and improving. AI is still an emerging technology, and AmICredible will keep innovating—getting smarter, faster, and more accurate as it grows.
In the next five years, we hope to see AmICredible used worldwide, in multiple languages, and extending far beyond social media—into user-generated content platforms, embedded in other software, referenced in mainstream media, and available anywhere someone wants to check the credibility of a statement with a single click. The possibilities really are endless
Q: What do you hope is the larger impact of the credibility movement?
A: The ripple effect of this new approach is significant. When individuals verify their own posts, they not only prevent the spread of misinformation—they also model a new standard of behavior for their followers and peers. This creates a virtuous cycle: as more people see others validating content, they too are encouraged to validate their content before sharing.
This behavioral shift can have a wide-reaching impact, influencing not just casual users but also public figures, media outlets, and organizations. In a world where credibility is increasingly questioned, having a visible commitment to fact-checking becomes a badge of integrity. Users who consistently share verified information will build reputations for trustworthiness, further encouraging others to follow suit.
As this practice becomes more widespread, the overall quality of public discourse improves. We have the potential to create a tipping point, where responsible information sharing becomes the norm rather than the exception. In this way, we can impact not just individual behavior but the collective mindset around how information is consumed and shared.
