Below is our recent interview with Heinz Derndorfer, Director of Marketing and Sales at Tender Service Group:

Q: For those who haven’t heard of it, what is the best way to describe Tender Service Group?

A: Our organization runs tender information services in 14 European countries plus Latin America. With local companies in all our markets, we are very close to our customers and trying to deliver the best service possible in each country. At the same time, we benefit from experiences and talented people in many different countries, and our unrivalled tender database for Europa and Latin America.

Q: How exactly does your service work?

A: On the one hand, we collect tender information: more than 7 million notifications per year, split into dozens of database fields for highly granular search and reports. On the other hand, our customers get individual search profiles, created in collaboration between our customer care agents and our client. If there are new tenders matching a customer’s search criteria, our client receives the new tender opportunities automatically by email.

Additionally to this daily tender alert service, we also offer a tender report service that provides insight into competitors’ bidding strategies, expected future tenders (based on historic data) or market reports for qualified market entry decisions.

Q: Why Tender Service Group? What makes you the best choice?

A: We focus on customers with high quality expectations and/or specific, individual needs. Everything we do is set-up in a way to cater to this group of companies – whether it is our customer service, our very complex, custom-made search profiles, a high granularity of our tender database, etc.

In other words: we typically find the highest number of contract opportunities with public entities for our customers, with a very high precision in search results.

For companies who bid in several (European or Latin-American) countries, we are in fact the only supplier with such a wide coverage.

Q: Who can benefit from a professional tender information service?

A: If public tenders are of high importance to a company, a professional tender information service is a must-have. It will bring many tender opportunities that a company wouldn’t find itself – at a fraction of the cost for researching.

If you are bidding once in a while only, you may live without a tender alert service. However, you will get a lot of insight into your industry and your competitors by using a service like ours which will help you when preparing a bid for a tender.

Finally, for companies who think about bidding for tenders for the first time, or want to evaluate whether to bid in other sectors or countries, some tender information services support such decision-making processes with detailed market reports.

Q: What are the company’s plans and goals for the future?

A: We will introduce new tools and features to help our clients win tenders. Our “Tender Report Service” was a first step into using historic data to support decision making in upcoming tenders but more steps will follow. Follow us in linkedIn or www.tender-service.com to get updated!

Q: Some people claim that the free governmental portals are considerable threatening the business model of commercial services. What’s your opinion?

A: Upon first view, such statements sound reasonable. And I think it is actually true for a substantial number of services, especially those with a low-cost / low-quality approach. But based on our 15-years-experience is this sector, free governmental services are not a threat to a high-quality service as ours. These platforms are typically slow, have very limited search capabilities, don’t check or correct wrong product codes or typos in keywords, don’t offer any customer service etc. In other words: they cost you a lot of time and therefore money to find the relevant information, and you most certainly miss an important part of it.
