Listen to this article

Ken Mills serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Epic IO, IntelliSite & Broad Sky Networks.

Ken has an early background in nuclear physics and reactor engineering, and over 20 years of business-to-business technology and information security expertise.

Below is our recent interview with Ken Mills, CEO at IntelliSite:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

A: IntelliSite is a global AI and IoT technology provider. Its DeepInsights platform applies the power of AI on video, IoT data and predictive models, to deliver valuable insights that keep its customers safer, smarter and more connected. IntelliSite is primarily focused on state and local government, enterprise, utilities, healthcare, and logistics.

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?

A: IntelliSite’s Cellular Solar Camera portfolio has been engineered to be easy to install and manage. It is a self sufficient device specially designed for surveillance and monitoring in remote places both day and night as well as for license plate recognition. It has the option to be powered externally or internally, and its power consumption is so low that the small solar panel accessory will keep it charged indefinitely.

The built-in SIM card gives the camera secure cellular access to DeepInsights via the cloud, and on-board storage for backup.

Use DeepInsights to get alerted and forensically review the list of alarms and their images that have been caught by the camera. As an alternative to streaming bandwidth-intensive video, use the history of snapshots to get a view of the site over time.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: We relied heavily on AI to make this solution light, so it addresses remote, vulnerable sites.

IntelliSite’s Cellular Solar Cameras are most commonly used for:

  • Suspicious Activity: Deployed where vehicular and human traffic is rare and suspicious. It uses DeepInsights to deliver instant notifications and rapid incident resolution.
  • Blacklists: Used with DeepInsights to track blacklisted license plates for a proactive response.
  • Forensic Search: Review historical LPR and alarm logs within DeepInsights to quickly identify when and where suspicious people and vehicles appeared.
  • Logging: Keep track of all activity. Many organizations, such as Homeowners Associations and property managers, need a vehicle log to help resolve incidents.

Q: What can we expect from your company in the next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: IntelliSite aims to continue its expansion in the United States and Central America with the launch of products such as DeepInsights and Cellular Solar Surveillance and LPR Cameras. In addition, we have found a new market, Biosecurity, that has many use cases we can address directly with AIoT and connectivity in order to keep our food chains safe and secure.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: Unless you’ve done AIoT projects before, most people don’t realize their needs will be completely different within 12 months. This is because as you start to see results, other stakeholders take an interest. If you solve these problems one at a time you end up with having to learn and manage multiple isolated systems that don’t share resources. IntelliSite’s solution is an open AIoT platform, on top of which you just keep building.
