Below is our recent interview with Sam Cons, the Founder & CEO at Cytation AI:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your business?
A: Cytation AI is a digital trust and verification platform built to fight misinformation, deepfakes, and AI-generated content at scale. We launched in September 2025 and have grown to over 121,000 registered users with more than 3 million platform interactions — fully bootstrapped, no outside capital. The platform lets anyone verify URLs, screenshots, claims, images, videos, and audio in seconds, and assigns a trust score to what they’re looking at. We also recently launched Synth, our AI-generated content detection tool, and Veryfy, which handles deepfake detection across image, video, and audio.
Q: Can you tell us something more about your latest announcement?
A: We just hit MarketWatch with a feature titled “Cytation AI Is Betting Against the Entire AI Industry — and It’s Working.” The core thesis is simple: while most AI companies are focused on generating content, we’re focused on verifying it. That contrarian bet is starting to pay off — our Crunchbase heat score jumped 87 points in a single quarter to 93, and inbound interest from media, journalists, and enterprise partners has grown significantly off the back of it.

Q: What are your plans for the next 12 months?
A: The target is 500,000 users by September 2026. Beyond raw growth, the focus is on embedding Cytation into third-party workflows — journalists citing it in their reporting, creators using it before sharing content, platforms integrating it as part of their moderation stack. We’re also working through our iOS App Store approval and expanding the product suite. Revenue is deliberately not the priority right now. Scale and trust infrastructure first.

Q: What is the best thing about your organization that people might not know about?
A: Most people don’t realize the scale of what’s actually happening online. The volume of AI-generated content, manipulated media, and outright misinformation has grown faster than anyone predicted — and the tools to fight it haven’t kept up. That’s the problem Cytation was built to solve.
What surprises people is how broad the platform actually is. Most companies pick one piece of this problem. We built the full stack — URL and claim verification with trust scoring, deepfake detection across image, video, and audio, brand impersonation protection, and AI-generated content detection. Four tools, one platform, and we’re just getting started.
