Comparatio is focused on developing and customizing off-the-shelf business software. Headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, Comparatio is developing custom software that delivers substantial savings compared to industry-standard business software. Below is our interview with Jan Poehland, Founder of Comparatio:

Jan-PoehlandQ: What is your core competence?

A: Our core competence is the development of custom off-the-shelf business software solutions, primarily for distributors. We implement our applications based on frameworks we built which enables us to set up new systems in a short amount of time, yet customize to individual needs.

Most of our applications revolve around inventory management and software within the supply chain to and from our clients. For example, we implemented full EDI systems that attach directly to Epicor’s Prophet 21.

Q: Tell us something more about Comparatio?

A: Comparatio was started in 2006. We are 10 people, with headquarters in Minneapolis, MN and have been operating and growing successfully from the start.

Q: Comparatio offers a wide range of off-the-shelf custom solutions, tell us something more about your products?

A: Most of our products come in two flavors: We either implement our systems based on our HTML5 framework or as native, mobile applications for iOS and Android.

Our HTML5 applications offer modern and sleek user interfaces and enable us to build systems like complete operations management systems, order entry systems, inventory optimization or complex reporting systems.

Q: Could you explain the function and advantages of your Inventory Management solution compared to other available solutions?

A: The benefits of our solutions are two-fold. On one hand we can offer solutions at a fixed cost because our framework provides a reliable and proved basis for all applications. In addition we can customize our software to individual needs so users get a system that fits like a glove without being overloaded with features that don’t apply.

Q: Who is your ideal customer and why?

A: Our ideal customer is a $100 million distributor or above. We essentially solve problems that internal IT departments cannot do due to the fact that it’s a major challenge all on its own to keep operations running IT-wise which leaves little room to implement all new solutions.

Q: What can we expect from Comparatio in the next six months?

A: We will continue to improve our HTML5 framework with significant updates especially around reporting.

In addition we will roll out major updates to our EDI systems as well.
