Below is our interview with Elie-Grégoire Khoury, Co-Founder and CEO of Dermandar:
Q: Tell us something more about the technology behind Dermandar?
A: Dermandar R&D department creates highly optimized image processing algorithms which allows the development team to deliver fast and user-friendly products. This unique synergy is key in the success of Dermandar products.
Moreover, the technology is fully owned by the company: All the algorithms are made in-house while most competitors rely on 3rd party licensing. Finally, in order to stay ahead of the competition, Dermandar offers continuous innovations through short cycles of lab prototyping to provide new features and solutions.

Q: What were the biggest challenges you faced in the beginning?
A: We launched Dermandar in 2010 in Lebanon. At this time, the existing ecosystem in the country wasn’t favorable for the growth of start-ups. Our biggest challenge was to develop a unique product that makes us known quickly and allows us to become a major player in the field of image processing. It was a complete success and we were up to the challenge as we created DMD Panorama the leading app for panoramas creation.
Q: How would you convince the reader to start using theVRkit?
A: At Dermandar we have been doing 360° image processing for the past 10 years, and from the first day we were constantly obsessed about speed, quality and user experience. We always work hard to offer straight forward and easy-to-use solutions.

Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: Dermandar is very excited to work on many products in the field of VR technologies. We are going to add to theVRkit a 360 Video recording and streaming capability. This one-of-a-kind technology allows the insertion of a 360 Video into a static 360 image that is initially created.
We are also working on a solution for real-estate agents called 360Visit, that is going to disrupt the current creation process of virtual tours (very cumbersome but also expensive). You only need to use theVRkit with the 360Visit app in order to create on the spot seamless virtual tours while taking the pictures.
