Below is our recent interview with Nina Benkotic, Head of Sales at Digital Samba:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: Digital Samba is a European video-conferencing company founded in 2003 and headquartered in Barcelona.
For more than two decades, we’ve specialised in building secure, high-quality real-time video products for businesses, governments, and education platforms.
Europe has the strongest privacy legislation in the world and we build on these European values in every decision we make.
Our technology powers thousands of meetings every day through Digital Samba Embedded, our white-label API and SDK that lets companies integrate custom video experiences directly into their own products.
In 2025, we expanded our mission beyond B2B and launched Digital Samba Free — a simple, beautifully designed, privacy-first video-calling platform for everyone. It’s built, hosted, and run entirely in Europe, with no sign-up required, no tracking, and no data monetisation.
Q: What makes you the best choice? How are you unique?
A: We’re unique because we put privacy, sovereignty, and great design ahead of surveillance-based business models.
Digital Samba is 100% EU-hosted, uses strictly EU-owned infrastructure, and never monetises user data. We don’t use trackers, profiling, or behavioural analytics — which makes us a very different kind of platform from the typical Silicon Valley tools. By operating in Europe and working exclusively with EU sub-processors we fall outside of the grasp of FISA and the CLOUD act.
On top of that, we’ve spent twenty years refining real-time video technology. The same engine that powers Digital Samba Free also powers Digital Samba Embedded — trusted by platforms that demand reliability, stability, and full control of the user experience.

Q: Who is your ideal client and why?
A: For Digital Samba Free, our ideal users are individuals and small teams who want effortless video calls without giving up their data. This includes educators, therapists, freelancers, NGOs, digital creators, and anyone who values privacy and time over complexity and sign-ups.
For Digital Samba Embedded, our ideal clients are SaaS platforms, online learning products, community tools, telehealth companies, marketplaces, and governments that need to integrate secure, customisable video experiences directly into their applications. Q: What can we expect from you in the next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: The coming six months are about expanding accessibility, deepening product value and driving adoption — especially across Europe.
For Digital Samba Free, our objective is not just to grow usage, but to spark a movement. By offering a high-quality product at no cost, with a feature set that exceeds expectations, we aim to generate organic word-of-mouth and virality. For Digital Samba Embedded, we’ll continue building more flexibility into our API and SDK, expand analytics capability, introduce deeper UI customisation, and evolve our compliance suite to support regulated industries such as healthcare, education, finance and public sector.
Our long-term goal is clear: build a unified, privacy-first video infrastructure for Europe, available both to individuals (Free) and platforms (Embedded).
Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: Many people don’t realise that Digital Samba has been quietly building video- conferencing technology in Europe long before remote work became mainstream. We’ve been fully bootstrapped, fully independent, and fully European since day one — with no external investors influencing how we treat user data.
Another thing many people discover only after talking to us is how design-obsessed we are. We spend enormous amounts of time making interfaces feel clean, human, and distraction-free. That philosophy is now visible in Digital Samba Free, but it has always been true behind the scenes in our embedded product as well.
And finally: our entire team is distributed across Europe, working remotely long before it became fashionable. Our own product powers our daily collaboration — so when we say we care about privacy-first video calling, we truly live it.
