Q: You’ve recently won a Gold Stevie International Business Award; could you tell us something more?
A: We won the Gold Stevie for “Best New Product or Service of the Year – Software – FinTech Solution” in honor of our work on the Netvest app. I’m incredibly proud of the hard work, thought, and creativity that our team put into the project. We worked closely with Mark Rochelli, Netvest’s founder, to build the product on the fly and make the right strategic decisions to prepare it for its release in the fall of 2016. The goal was to create a transparent investment platform that enables members to understand and learn from the thought process of highly successful investors. Members are able to view investors’ actual investment portfolios, tracking changes in real time and reading the investors’ explanations for their decisions. The Distillery team that worked on it – about 12 developers, designers, and project support professionals – was incredibly psyched to have won this acknowledgement for their work. It’s truly an impressive and well-deserved honor.
Recommended: Q: Who are the primary users of Distillery and what are some of the key challenges you are helping them solve?
A: The bulk of our projects come from entrepreneurs and startups. When you’re just getting started, it’s crucial to be able to scale your business without taking on undue risk. So we can provide software developers on loan to work as part of the client’s team. We can also take on outsourced projects, leading the projects as if they’re our own. Bottom line, we work collaboratively with our clients to figure out what will work best for their needs. It gives them flexibility at a crucial time and the ability to scale in whatever way makes sense for their business.
Of course, we also work with enterprises. Sometimes, enterprises simply don’t have time or bandwidth for their software development initiatives. We help them get the work done without losing speed.
We actually have a ton of repeat clients – execs and entrepreneurs who take us along from one company to the next. We are trusted partners to CEOs, CTOs, CIOs, and VPs of Engineering across Los Angeles and far beyond. We have become long-term partners for many of our clients.

And I plan to continue being smart and strategic about where we invest our efforts, making sure that my people remain proud of the work they do and the company they work for.
