Below is our interview with Marcy Kiesman, President at Durango Resources:
Q: You’ve recently acquired some interesting projects such as a Dome Historical Gold Discovery; could you tell us something more?
A: The markets for junior exploration were bad for many years which led to the release of some very interesting properties throughout Canada. Durango was fortunate to pick some of these historical projects up very cheaply and plans to continue exploring where the previous crews left off. It is much easier to find a mine with others nearby with the same or similar geology, as these events rarely occur as a solo act. The Durango team is determined to succeed and will not stop short of anything less.

Q: What’s the hardest part of your job?
A: The hardest part of the job for me is raising money to work the claims since Durango does not have any brokers or funds supporting the company.
Q: What advantages does Durango have over its competitors?
A: Durango has an all female board of directors who are not afraid to take risks and act quickly to the changing market conditions. To date, we have been accurate in our predictions of the up and coming commodities and choosing properties to acquire in areas with great success before the success has been made, which helps to keep us relevant for traders and shareholders. We think creatively at times, such as last year we optioned off one of our properties to fund the exploration of others. This was done to prevent dilution of our shareholders and to provide capital to further advance Durango’s portfolio of compelling projects.

A: The future is something I cannot predict, but I can tell you that the Durango team will not stop forging ahead and pushing for discovery as long as I am around. We made it through a really tough bear market and not only maintained but gained more highly prospective properties with minimal shareholder dilution. Now that the bull market has arrived, let’s see where it leads us.
