Below is our recent interview with Bill Salm Jr. Vice President and General Manager at Etactics:

Q: Bill, can you tell us something more about the company and your Revenue Cycle Management solutions?

A: Etactics provides Revenue Cycle Management solutions to healthcare providers throughout the United States. Today we serve over 4,000 healthcare, commercial, and municipal clients, providing solutions that optimize transactional data accuracy, facilitate service reimbursement at the commercial payer and customer level, analyze A/R leakage where identified and provide GRC related services that comply with regulatory mandates.

Our solutions, specifically those in the healthcare marketplace, allow our customers to capture revenue for service rendered. A healthcare provider can use one or all of our Etactics’ provided solutions to protect their cash flow or accounts receivable.

Q: Can you give us insights into your solutions?

A: Etactics is a leading business solutions organization committed to providing innovative, web-based solutions that improve our clients’ cash management and customer relationships. Our applications and services assist clients across various business sectors to improve business processes, boost productivity, reduce operating expenses and accelerate payment.

IntelliClaim is our EDI solution that provides a full-service medical claims clearinghouse, real-time insurance eligibility verification, Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) delivery, and standard insurance claim scrubbing.

AppealsPlus is our Denial management solution that searches through ERA files to find denials based on customizable rules and definitions set on a per-client basis.

intelliStatement provides a slew of Patient statement delivery and mailing services geared toward self-pay and “balance after insurance” accounts.

Customer Access Plus is a Patient portal solution, that offers secure, PCI compliant online payment and delivery processing to eliminate the cost of printing and mailing transactional documents.

A/R Insite recognizes the gradual industry-wide shift from external collection agencies to internal revenue management and provides clients with the ability to identify the appropriate A/R resolution and recovery.

K2 Compliance is a result of our understanding of the difficulties surrounding Governance, Risk, and Compliance, it gives an organization the ability to create, deploy, measure, analyze, and improve processes to mitigate the risk associated with daily efforts and actions performed in order to protect sensitive information.

From a pricing standpoint, all of Etactics’ solutions are available to its customers as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). The majority are charged per transaction to allow for a provider to pay for those services that are actually used over a 30 day period. Custom pricing models are also available, establishing a fixed monthly cost for our services, making it easier on an operating budget.

Q: You’ve recently celebrated 20 years of revenue cycle management innovation; could you tell us something more?

A: In 1999 our founder, Michael Teutsch, recognized that there existed constant and increasing administrative and operating costs within the healthcare space. He found this to be especially true at the practice level, where hiring people to do manual tasks was often how providers compensated for their lack of data, resources, and processes to effectively manage revenue cycle tasks. Michael believed that these manual processes could be improved thru leveraging technology and, thus, Etactics was born.

As one can imagine, our solutions have changed dramatically since we were established twenty years ago. We originally started out as a medical clearinghouse, our flagship service that we still provide to our customers to this day. Thereafter, complementary revenue cycle applications were introduced to address our clients ever changing needs.

Currently, our medical claims clearinghouse processes more than 1,000,000 claims from 6,000 different payer connections every month. Our invoice and statement processing system delivers millions of documents each month, influencing timely and responsible patient payment for the thousands of healthcare providers it serves.

Q: What makes you stand out from your competition?

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: We are currently in the midst of enhancing our suite of revenue cycle solutions by developing new applications that have been revealed during the discovery phase conducted with clients we serve. Solution enhancements include an address and transactional document manager, a payer reimbursement estimator, and a drag-and-drop statement composer, to name just a few.

We have committed to adhere to HIPAA and NIST policies by encrypting all data we receive from our clients to ensure its secure. We will continue to conduct extensive research surrounding Blockchain to better define its influence on our customers and their future needs.
