Q: Brendan, tell us something more about Tecate Group?
A: The Tecate Group is a global manufacturer and supplier of electronic components and assemblies. From our corporate headquarters in San Diego, California, as well as from manufacturing and stocking locations in Asia and Europe, we supply high-quality ultracapacitors, capacitors, and electronic assemblies to customers worldwide. We sell solutions, not merely products. With a seasoned and knowledgeable team to assist customers through every step of the selection, design, manufacturing, and delivery process, the Tecate experience offers customers something more than just another component. Our highly experienced engineers are dedicated to making sure each customer is matched with the components that meet their product’s exact specifications. Tecate serves a wide range of markets, including the robotics and material-handling equipment, data storage, smart grid, military/aerospace, industrial, medical, and telecommunications industries.

Q: What are your plans for keeping Tecate Group on the forefront of technology innovation?
A: It is all about the innovative, collaborative group of people in our company. We understand the ultracapacitor technology very well and continue to invest in R&D, but in the right areas. Listening to the voice of the customer is one of the most important processes to Tecate. It is all about being proactive and constantly innovative to capture the changing requirements of the customers over time. We know that customers do not always know what they want, but working directly with each customer allows us to be innovative, creative and add immediate value to them and to the industry as a whole.
Q: Can you give us more insights into your products?
A: Tecate offers the industry’s widest range of ultracapacitor cell sizes and values. This is important because it allows us to size and develop the appropriate solution for the customer. Our ability to package our standard cells in customized modules has been the key to our long-term success. These customized packages are designed to optimize the performance and life of the solution, by integrating on board electronics such as cell balancing, charging, state of health and CAN interface.

Q: What milestones can we expect from you over the next six months?
A: Product diversification. We are in the process of developing new products to meet the ever changing and demanding requirements of our customer base. This will come by way of increased voltage platforms, higher operating temperature ranges and increased energy density.
Q: Is there anything that set Tecate Group apart from competition?
A: Our people. Innovation starts with people, not products. We believe we have the best in the industry. Our company culture and diversity of thought has a tremendous impact on our ability to innovate and stay ahead of the competition.
