Q: How did Hyphen Solutions get its start?
A: Hyphen Solutions was founded in 1998 to be the leading Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) application to serve North America’s residential homebuilders, suppliers, distributors, and manufacturers. The founders of Hyphen recognized that systems for homebuilders needed to include the entire supply chain in their purview, as many of the activities required to build a home are outsourced to capable trade partners. As such, Hyphen’s mission and vision is to unify the entire residential construction supply chain, so that job-specific information can be entered one time and then shared across the network in the data format each user in the supply chain is most comfortable using (email, app, direct integration into another system, etc.).
Hyphen technology provides just-in-time management principles with an evolved inclusion of the entire supply chain to eliminate information silos, which inhibit efficiency and run up costs for builders and supplier alike. The platform utilizes a secure, cloud-based architecture that provides reliable, instant two-way, communications between builders and their valued trade partners. This year, our systems will aid in the construction of approximately 200,000 new homes. Currently, our customers consist of several of the top 20 homebuilders in North America. Over the past few years, we have expanded by developing and integrating with other industry partners.

Q: What exactly does Hyphen Solutions do?
A: Hyphen Solutions provides superior software applications for the homebuilding industry to address its specific needs and create a more collaborative means of communication. We offer an integrated homebuilding suite designed to increase productivity, enhance operational control and improve profitability for all parties. The cloud-based application includes optimized tools to manage accounting, communication, documents, scheduling and reporting for internal use of the builder and external consumption by trade partners. We provide two main platforms, BuildPro and SupplyPro.
BuildPro takes scheduling and supply chain management to a cloud-based platform, which enables builders to have access to information with superior precision. BuildPro increases productivity by actively tracking schedule changes and automating supplier communications, which can include full line-item detail of customer selections and manufacturer SKU information.
Hyphen’s SupplyPro provides premier scheduling solutions that work in tandem with BuildPro to enable suppliers to communicate with builders and the field electronically. Suppliers are able to effectively receive and view job schedules, view purchase orders and access job documents. Because of its cloud platform, SupplyPro can be used for any builder’s order, giving the supplier the ability to have one login and process when working with any builder. This streamlines the supplier’s operations, while also ending the burden of cross-training employees to work with various builder websites, emails, and faxes.
Q: Tell us something more about FMS System?
A: Hyphen’s Field Management Service creates a consistent, streamlined way to manage field operations for builders and suppliers. The mobile technology provides custom workflows with real-time access to information, enhancing communication, management, and jobs scheduling. Suppliers are able to see all orders sent by builders instantly and easily create their own schedule based on the order.
FMS is for the supplier who wants to take internal, just-in-time management philosophies and maximize efficiency. Using this toolset, the supplier can easily create his own custom catalogs, workflows, and schedules on any device, such as a mobile tablet. Additionally, this application takes advantage of all updates into the network to give the user insight into whether the job site is ready for the service that was originally ordered. Imagine using input from the preceding trades to help you determine whether the job is actually ready for you, by simply having the color of your task change based on its readiness. It truly takes advantage of the Internet of Things (IOT).

Q: What makes you the best choice?
A: We developed Hyphen technology with the homebuilding community in mind. Our construction management software unifies the supply chain through a specialized digital communication platform to ensure that assignments are completed in a timely manner. Hyphen’s BuildPro and SupplyPro provide accountability and flexibility, helping the entire supply chain cut costs and increase profits. We are in the fortunate position of having a wide variety of builders and suppliers using our systems. We knew that the key to our success would be to continually meet the changing needs of our clients, so we created a Hyphen User Group that provides active input into our product roadmap and direction. Doing this ensures that our solutions work for multiple builders from day one, while also allowing us the opportunity to design and build enhancements only once, as opposed to having to rebuild everything to land the next account. Additionally, we invest more in the ongoing enhancement of our residential construction systems than our competitors. The combination of these two items provides us with constant feedback for driving our application set.
Q: What are your plans?
A: Hyphen plans to continually focus on our customer’s needs by building products that not only solve industry problems but also enhance the way homebuilders and suppliers do business. We are constantly evolving our technology to revolutionize the homebuilding industry and delivering solutions that unify the current supply chain environment. Hyphen recognizes that technology providers serving the trade base are as varied as those serving homebuilders. We recently launched our Hyphen SupplyPro User Group to drive product development across the supply chain side of our business.
