Below is our recent interview with Kyle Metcalf, CEO at Inspired eLearning:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to Inspired eLearning?

A: At Inspired eLearning, we are committed to providing the most effective and highest-quality cybersecurity awareness, HR, and compliance eLearning solutions. We provide enterprise-level Security Awareness education to organizations of all sizes. Our eLearning solutions do more than simply check a box; they drive positive and measurable changes in organizational culture as well.

Companies spend a fortune on security hardware and software to combat cybersecurity threats; however, few if any address the point of attack — their employees. We want to help our customers mitigate risk by enhancing workforce skills, empowering them to protect themselves against cyberattacks and regulatory violations, and maximizing the return on their investment throughout their organizational training. We offer a variety of turn-key eLearning solutions, including tiered Security Awareness, Compliance, and HR training programs and a new PhishProof 3.1 phishing simulation/assessment tool.

Q: You’ve recently been recognized by Gartner for the fifth year in a row; could you tell us something more?

A: Our visionary position in the November 2018 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Security Awareness Computer-Based Training affirms our commitment to innovation. 2018 was a transformative year for Inspired eLearning as we executed on our strategy with new product launches, like our Security First Solutions. We are honored to have received the recognition and believe it demonstrates our strong commitment to helping our customers minimize business risk while creating Security First cultures in their organizations.

Q: Do you have any new products or services?

A: Last month, we announced the launch of our new Security First Solutions, a multilingual, packaged security awareness program that delivers assessments, training, and phishing simulations through an integrated learning path. There are three new, off-the-shelf solutions to help businesses of any size or experience create a blueprint for a Security First organization. The objective of an effective Security Awareness Training program is to empower employees to be proactive and vigilant about cybersecurity threats. At Inspired eLearning, we call this a Security First Mindset. This mindset includes thinking twice before clicking a link in an email, using a strong password when creating accounts, and always locking their computer when stepping away from their desk. The new packages make it easy for an organization of any size to adopt these best practices and embrace a Security First culture.

And today, we continue to innovate as we launch exciting new enhancements to PhishProof, our anti-phishing solution, by adding Vishing (phoning) and SMiShing (texting) simulations. Adding these features to our PhishProof platform makes Inspired eLearning the first and only security training company to offer simulations for all four of the most common types of phishing attacks: email (phishing), phone (Vishing), text (SMiShing), and USB (USB baiting). Again, creating a Security First culture.

Q: What makes your training the most effective one in the industry?

A: Over the past 15 years, Inspired eLearning has trained more than 9 million people. And during that time, we’ve honed our training approach and strategy. When constructing our training, we follow the latest adult learning best practices, which allow us to truly optimize the engagement of the learner and retention of the information. I strongly believe that keeping engagement and retention at the forefront of content creation makes our courses the most effective in the industry. In addition to the learning process, we focus heavily on the production quality of the content we provide to our customers. We’ve earned more than 55 awards, many of which were won in the past year, specifically for our educational content. Winning these awards highlights our commitment to educating and engaging organizations at the end-user level.

Q: Why is it important for employees to be aware of cyber-security threats?

A: Now that phishing has developed into a multibillion-dollar crime, phishing attacks are becoming more sophisticated in both type and frequency. Emails, phone calls, text messages, and USB baiting are all being leveraged by bad actors to gain unauthorized access to private data and systems. The average cost of a phishing attack to a mid-size company is $1.6 million. If not properly prepared, financial and reputational damage could cripple any business. Our research reveals organizations that send simulated phishing attempts to their employees once a month show a 27% decrease in clicks.

Q: What does the future hold for Inspired eLearning?

A: Inspired eLearning will continue to deliver the world’s most effective Security Awareness programs, while working diligently on effective instructional design strategies to keep our content fresh and engaging. Adding gamification in the form of badging and leaderboards is a short-term goal that will help motivate and spark the competitive flair in learners that our customers strive for. Building simple and intuitive dashboards and reporting will allow customers to measure and assess their organizations’ preparedness and ROI. Pair all this up with advancements of machine learning and artificial intelligence throughout our platform, and you now have the future of Inspired eLearning.

Our goal remains the same, even if the delivery mechanism changes: delivering engaging content, intuitive simulations, gamification, and measurable results so companies can rest assured their most critical line of defense, their employees, will be educated, empowered, and ready to take on the challenges of cybercriminals around the world.
