Below is our recent interview with Jeff Zigman, the Founder and CEO at SKILL BUILDER:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: SKILL BUILDER is a virtual/remote employee training platform that was built at the beginning of COVID out of the need for remote learning and it has been combined with the expertise of Alex Killie, a former senior investigator with the Department of Homeland Security, who has trained 5,000+ civilians on Active Shooter Response.
This Active Shooter Preparation training is for schools and companies, which simulates 1-on-1 training between Alex and each individual.
I used the principles I learned from 20 years of martial arts, about how people learn new skills, and built those fundamental learning principles into the SKILL BUILDER platform, leveraging Gamification to make it engaging so that the learning “sticks” quickly.
Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: This Active Shooter Preparation training provides a deep, thought-invoking experience to every person who takes it, at their own pace, and it can be scaled to any size, whether to 10 people, or 100,000 people.
This gives immediate On Demand access to schools across the United States, to get training on the RUN, HIDE, FIGHT methodology taught by the Department of Homeland Security.
One participant who went through it – Retired Law Enforcement, High-End Security Professional, Asset Protection, and Executive Protection – was quoted as saying:

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: To make this more accessible to schools, I’m currently giving 50% off. I think this could really save lives.

Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: There are more than 100,000 schools across the United States and most staff are thoroughly unprepared or underprepared.
We’re working on getting this out to as many schools and companies as possible, which could mean the difference between life and death, for the faculty and students alike.
I have 2 little children myself and as a parent, the idea of a situation like this happening is terrifying.
In the next 6 months (actually sooner than that), I’m planning on turning this into a customizable training. This would allow each school, each company, to customize it with their own floor plans, their own rally points, and so on.
I’m also looking to partner with security companies interested in pushing this out to their existing customers.
Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: This is the only training for Active Shooter Preparedness, that is immersive, safe (not traumatic, like some in-person trainings have been known to be), can be rolled out to unlimited people instantly, with a ton of features for employee oversight and tracking.
