JotForm helps users create online forms and receive responses without writing a single line of code. JotForm was the first web based WYSIWYG form builder, since 2006, the company has built up over 1.5 million users, hosting over 6 million online forms. Below is our recent interview with Chad Reid, from JotForm team:
Q: JotForm has been around since 2006, can you tell us how the company started and how your expertise evolved?
A: JotForm founder, Aytekin Tank, previously worked for large internet media company in New York City. One of his tasks was to create tools for editors to build forms, surveys and polls. That’s how he found out that there is a need for tools that makes creating online forms easy. He realized building forms can be highly tedious and redundant. Not only do you have to build the front end design, but you also need to handle the submissions on the backend.
JotForm was the first web based WYSIWYG form builder, and continues to be a leader in the form builder market. Beyond building forms, users can now integrate with a large number of third parties including SalesForce, DropBox, and email marketing providers. Among our most popular integrations is the ability to set up an online store. Within minutes one can set up a form to sell items through a number of payment portals including PayPal, Stripe, and Authorize.net.
Q: JotForm recently releases a first ever marketplace for buying and selling online web form design themes, tell us something more?
A: We’re really excited about our Theme Store for online forms. It bridges the gap between our users who have the design skills to create beautiful forms and those who might not have the time or desire to create one. Now designers can use our advanced Form Designer to create a custom form and sell it on our Theme Store for everyone to enjoy. It’s a win-win.

Q: What does JotForm do really well and how can startup companies best leverage it?
A: JotForm has always been on the forefront of making things easy for users. We’ve helped over a million users with our intuitive form builder; a drag-and-drop tool allowing users to build a form without any coding experience. Our Form Designer and Theme Store have kept with the same mentality; enabling intricate customized designs that would have taken hours using standard CSS.
Startup companies looking for terrific contact forms for their websites, survey forms for customer feedback, or maybe even just a fun form to gather information for a company party can get a lot of use from our service.

Q: What advantage does JotForm have over its competitors?
A: JotForm started as a free service, and has continually provided an unprecedented free offering. Users can enjoy the vast majority of our services for free, including setting up payment processors for financial transactions. Paid subscriptions are targeted for high volume users. We allow our free customers to the vast majority of our product offering.
Our simple form builder is a great product. But there’s nothing like our Form Designer on the market today. For web designers, there’s no other option for customizing form designs. Plus, with our Theme Store, users can make residual income on their creations.
Q: What can we expect from your team in 2015?
A: 2014 was a year of building for JotForm. We built the Form Designer and the Theme Store. These tools complete the form build and design toolset. In 2015 we will continue to improve and fine tune these new tools, ensuring JotForm users have the best tools available.
