Below is our recent interview with Nissim Amar, CEO of TFI ltd, the company behind the Cherries Platform.
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to TFI?
A: Takin Financial Instruments (TFI Ltd.) offers advanced financial tools developed by experts in financial technology, applied mathematics, programming, and artificial intelligence.
Our primary product is Cherries – an online platform where users can build optimized virtual stock portfolios based on their own preferences.
In the past, our software solutions specialized in management and advanced analysis of investment arrays and were mostly used by large firms and financial institutions. With Cherries, we’re bringing that expertise to the wider public.
Q: You’ve recently announced that Cherries Optimized Stock Portfolio builder is available in the USA; could you tell us something more?
A: We recently completed a very successful pilot in Israel, which proved to us how much Cherries has to offer both experienced and novice investors. Now, Cherries is available to customers in the US free of charge. Using Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT), they can build optimized portfolios that are tailored to each individual user’s preferences and risk appetite. The shares included in the portfolios are chosen from a pool of every stock that is traded on each of the major US stock exchanges.
Cherries is not a trading platform and has no connection to any brokerage firm or bank. The portfolios we build are 100% virtual. That means that users can test strategies and try different combinations, all without investing any money. You can sign up and create unlimited portfolios for free.
Q: What is Cherries? How does it work?
A: Cherries in an innovative platform for creating personally optimized stock portfolios. We used groundbreaking statistical and mathematical algorithms to develop cutting-edge algorithms that identify the exact risk level of individual stocks and then calculate the best way to combine them. The algorithms are applied to broad, constantly-updated databases that include extensive information from three major stock exchanges and tens of thousands of securities. The result is Cherries’ ability to craft optimally-performing stock portfolios, all based on individual user preferences.
The system is completely virtual so users can create portfolios risk-free. However, the data used is completely real and up-to-date. Once you have a portfolio you like, you can export it and purchase it through any bank, personal investment advisor or online brokerage.
Q: What makes Cherries different from its competition?
A: First of all, we’ve removed a lot of the risk posed by other small investor tools by keeping our portfolios completely virtual. This lets users take time to learn and find an investing style they’re comfortable with before they put any money down. But just as important, it means the platform is 100% free of interests or agendas. You couldn’t invest through Cherries even if you wanted to – what users do with their money is none of our concern.
Cherries is also more mathematically-driven. Other platforms have used elements of MPT in the past but never as comprehensively and extensively as Cherries. The size and capabilities of our mathematical engine are also unrivaled so we can apply MPT to a much larger database and do more complex calculations for things like covariance matrices.
And lastly, Cherries is designed to focus purely on objective optimization. For example, Cherries portfolios only include stocks. By concentrating on one type of security, we can ensure the portfolios are mathematically optimized. This also lets our backtesting tool use the most complex input data and calculations with maximum accuracy. Most other performance testing tools create progress visualizations over time or compare portfolios to other pre-determined portfolios. Cherries backtesting, however, uses past data to instantly compare with leading benchmarks, which makes it more accurate, more objective, and a lot more useful.

Q: What are your plans moving forward?
A: As we expand to more audiences around the world, we’ll also start incorporating data from more stock exchanges. Not only will this let people invest locally, it will also give Cherries portfolios even more data to work with.
In the meantime, we’re upgrading our user input options with features like constraints, filters and condition management tools. And of course, we’re constantly refining Cherries’ stock analysis methods to include covariance and correlation matrices, CAPM calculations, analytics tables, risk matrices, and heat maps, all of which will help Cherries create more profitable portfolios than ever.
