Listen to this article

Divining Point is a full-service marketing agency with capabilities that cover the full range of branding, digital and traditional advertising, content, and videography. Below is our recent interview with Coy West, CEO of Divining Point:

Q: Coy, can you tell us something more about your business?

A: We are a veteran-owned small business in Austin, Texas with experience tackling tough challenges for businesses of all sizes. Ultimately, we are problem solvers who work with companies across multiple industries including real estate, travel and hospitality, technology, and healthcare and medical services.

Q: You’ve recently been named as a top web design company in Texas; could you tell us something more?

A: We understand the value of a website and the intricate attention it calls for. During a website design project, Divining Point keeps purpose, functionality and eye-catching designs at the forefront. In addition to capturing web users’ attention through performance and aesthetics, we work to optimize websites so they are SEO-friendly, striving to build search rankings for increased traffic. As a result, web design agency ranking source, Best Web Designs, has named us as a Top Web Design Company in Texas in 2020.

We were also named as a Top Marketing Agency in 2019 by Clutch, a B2B ratings and reviews platform!

Q: Can you walk us through your process? How does it work?

A: First and foremost, we use a comprehensive discovery process including research, auditing, and analysis that allows us to identify areas where brands may be falling short. From there, we create a data-driven strategy that may include advertising, branding, public relations and content tailored to the needs of that specific client.

As the CEO, I’m constantly asking myself if we’re doing enough to support our clients. It’s what keeps me up at night because at the end of the day, our goal is to build greater trust in the marketplace by helping companies fulfill the promises they make to their customers. We consider it a failure if our clients are not meeting this goal as a result of our work.

Q: How is online marketing different today than it was just a few years ago?

A: Marketing is constantly evolving. Whether there are small changes to regulations or major adjustments in algorithms, it’s something we, as a company, keep at the top of our minds on a daily basis.

As a whole, marketing has become more authentic compared to a few years ago. Consumers now engage with genuine brands who connect with their customers with tailored messaging across multiple acquisition sources. With an ever growing amount of advertising options, people are tuning out to businesses with whom they can’t relate. It’s our goal to monitor actual customer behavior online and use the data to drive our campaigns. There are tools that help us achieve this, but it’s our deep understanding of consumer behavior that allows us to generate real results.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: We’ve deliberately maintained a diverse portfolio of clients. This has allowed us to maintain our growth despite any volatility in the market. It’s also allowed us to learn how industries interact with one another. That experience has allowed us to find connections between markets and develop better marketing strategies. For example, there are rich connections between the outdoor sports, travel, ecommerce, and hospitality industries, for which we’re perfectly suited. Our understanding of this relationship positions us to build complex strategies for our customers in these industries. We will continue to expound on this as a company.
