Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your event?
A: ICE Innovation Festival is the leading Startup and Innovation Festival in the Arctic. The emerging market holds great opportunities, and this event brings all the key players under one roof. The festival concentrates on innovation and creativity, how to turn these into a scalable business, the distinctive opportunities of the region, and the special experiences it offers.
ICE community is the thriving force of the Festival. The local Community that is born to boost Innovation and Entrepreneurship. As a connector of various public and private organizations, it’s a growing cluster of creators, doers, and supporters.
Kirkenes is a small and spectacular town in Northern Norway, on the coast of the Barents Sea. With an international harbor, close cooperation with Finland, and the business possibilities of ArcTech, (Logistics, FoodTech, Energy, Blue Economy) it is attracting investors and ideas from all around the Nordics.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: If it works here, it works everywhere. Northern Norway has some of the harshest climate and terrain in the world. Tech solutions that solve it here, can make it anywhere. A non-typical environment inspires innovation and focus. This is a great place to develop something new.
This event offers a fast track to starting and scaling your business in the Arctic. In addition to its possibilities in ArcTech, it’s the emerging market and hub for innovations.
ArcTech solutions cover i.e. renewable energy production, maritime tech and circular economy solutions, just to name a few. These sectors have a strong base in Norway.
We work on creating a strong ecosystem of ArcTech companies to tackle the problems of the Arctic and the rest of the world. The ICE Innovation Festival is one part of the activities which we are working on this journey.
Q: What can we expect from your community in the next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: The Innovation Festival takes place on 10th-11th November. It is the biggest of its kind in the Arctic. It gathers together bright minds of the Nordics, to create connections and find solutions for common challenges.
The Festival won’t be a regular conference; it’s about doing, creating, and experiencing. instead of lecture rooms, we take people out to the Arctic wilderness. On top of inspiring and insightful keynotes, the Festival offers a lot of distinctive experiences. To all of your senses.
We gather together the creators of tomorrow, and provide them with practical tools and steps on how to turn ideas into reality and monetize innovations.
Being part of the ICE Community means that one gets continuous support in terms of funding and mentoring, to establish and scale in the Arctic. All the participants of The ICE Innovation Festival will get a chance to become part of this community.

Q: What is the best thing about your community that people might not know about?
A: The ICE knows the drill when it’s about growth and creating connections in and from the Arctic.
The ICE started as local cooperation in Kirkenes, and now has grown to be part of an international innovation network in the Nordics.
The Festival is operated by Barents Secretariat and SVU, and is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway. And it’s about creating cooperation.
Because if we are gonna go far, we do it together.
The ICE is open to cooperation, for creative partnerships to solve challenges in the Arctic – and create a sustainable future.
