Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: Olympia Moving & Storage in was founded in 1993 by Michael Gilmartin. We started with just two trucks and a small crew, running furniture on 4th floor walk-ups in Boston. Since then, we have built a company of more than 250 employees and 6 warehouses across the country that operates moving and storage services, both commercial and residential, in 4 regions across the country: Massachusetts, New Jersey/Philadelphia, Washington D.C
Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: This is the first time in our 28-year history that we have been recognized with this award. This is a true testament to the hard work of the moving crews and office staff. It is even more so poignant to be awarded this through the pandemic year where are teams knowingly faced the risks to serve our community and provide these very important services.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: We offer residential moving services and can pretty much move anything you can imagine. Being a part of Wheaton Van Lines and their worldwide network, our expertise and experience allows us to provide local, interstate and international moving services from and to anywhere worldwide through one point of contact. We also provide full-service packing and unpacking options by our highly trained crews, as well as short and long term storage solutions in 6 warehouses across the country. On our commercial side, we offer a number of services including relocation, storage, decommissioning, liquidation, warehousing, installation, event management and so much more. Given our many years of experience, we have seen and completed moves for any and every type of items and customer you can imagine, so we are rightly positioned to service and move anything you can dream up.
Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: In the next 6 months, expect more conversation about our capabilities in the commercial space, and more growth in our residential businesses. From a commercial standpoint, with offices starting to open back up, we are perfectly positioned to help those businesses navigate through the shift to a hybrid dominant workplace, inclusive of downsizing square footage, reconfiguring current workspaces, overall back-to-office project management and so much more. From a residential perspective, we are becoming more active on social outlets and evangelizing our high-quality moving services that clearly provide a value add and a more secure service than a lot of those fly-by-night moving companies.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: It has to be the people. With something as mundane as moving, you would think that there is little passion for the business. It is quite the opposite. Our owner Michael Gilmartin is still on the trucks to this very day. The president Piet Gauchat was once a mover and is still seen carrying moving blankets around the warehouse and jumping on trucks when shorthanded. The moving crews and office staff are impassioned and sincerely dedicated to providing the best moving experience for our clients.
