Below is our recent interview with Daniel Barnett, CEO & Founder at WORKetc:

Q: How is your product helping small businesses punch above their weight?

A: A typical modern business would usually need about half a dozen to a dozen different apps to efficiently run and manage their entire company.

That’s a lot of apps, and for a small business, especially a startup, all those app subscriptions immediately add a lot of overhead — not to mention the extra man hours the entire staff would have to spend to learn how to use all of those apps and make them play nice with each other.

WORKetc makes this whole issue moot. With its combined CRM, sales, project management, time tracking, billing, and customer support modules, small business only have to pay for and train on one app.

Think about it: today’s typical business can make use of numerous contractors from pretty much any city anywhere in the world.

Even just the complexity of handling contractors from different regions makes the reality of business being less about working on the business and more about actually making the business work.

Q: How has your product saved your company time and money, and how are you passing those savings on to your customers?

A: We’re a small team, scattered all over the globe, and everyday we use WORKetc the app to manage WORKetc the company — a practice widely known in the startup world as “drinking our own champagne”.

Just the fact that we can all do and track our work in one app, from anywhere in the world, without constantly switching in and out of half a dozen or so different apps means we can get our jobs done faster and more efficiently.

If a client emails us about their most recent invoice, for example, our support team can quickly check every single invoice ever sent to that customer without having to bug someone in billing or log on to a separate billing app.

Or if I get an email from a prospective customer, I can quickly turn that email into a sales lead and assign someone to nurture it. And once that lead is closed, it can be turned into a project, and then that project into an invoice, just with a couple of clicks.

No copying, no pasting, no double entry, no app switching — just everything done in one app. We work faster, which means we help our customers faster too.

And because we use WORketc everyday, we’re always the first to complain to ourselves when we find something that doesn’t work quite as well as it should.
