Below is our recent interview with Samuel Taub, CEO at MVI Systems:

Q: Samuel, tell us something more about MVI Systems and your history?

A: Founded in 2016, MVI is the unified PropTech of the future. We are a B2B2C technology startup based in Brooklyn. MVI has developed a smart video door system and property management software that is revolutionizing the digital doorman market. We recently completed numerous pilots with top tier NY and NJ real estate companies, and have begun to scale up full blast. We are preparing for nationwide and eventually international rollout.

Q: You’ve recently launched KeyCom® and myKey™ suite of products for multifamily residential buildings across New York and New Jersey; could you tell us something more?

A: Our KeyCom® video door entry system is an interactive, easy-to-use, touchscreen monitor placed at the main lobby or entrance of a property.

MVI’s iOS and Android myKey™ smartphone apps for the residents, provide them with patented automatic keyless Bluetooth entry, delivery tracking, and the ability to interact with guests and visitors remotely. Our system also allows residents to send timed guest keys, use digital keys, view and be notified of important building memos and events, as well as track deliveries and packages in real time.

The KeyCom® and myKey™ system creates a seamless tenant experience with secure access control and conveniences like no other.

MVI is closing out 2018 with some exciting achievements, including many successful pilots with key NY and NJ real estate companies. We’re looking forward to an exciting 2019 starting with the release of our newest model – the KeyCom® BOLT – widely available in January, with an even slimmer model right behind that – the KeyCom® LITE.

Q: Your solution is definitely more convenient than wearing a key, but is it really safer?

A: Yes, our system is much more secure. MVI’s KeyCom® system uses an encrypted data security token placed inside each mobile device which is extremely difficult to clone. By way of example, trying to clone a token in our system can be compared to attempting to clone an individual’s smartphone.

Furthermore, the majority of the population, especially urban dwellers, tend to keep their smartphones nearby and within reach at all times. With this in mind, we are confident in the security of using a mobile device to enter a residential building. Physical keys, RFID fobs, ID badges, and even biometric data can be copied and imitated. Moreover, keys and fobs are commonly and easily loaned out to unauthorized friends and guests; while most individuals would be very hesitant to loan out their cell phones for a friend to use to gain access to a building. Therefore, using a personal mobile device as the main method of entry gives control to the end user, and is ultimately the most secure method of entry.

Q: Why is now the time for a technology solution like MVI Systems?

A: As the population continues to evolve from traditional keys and fobs and turns to new technology for automatic entry with their automobiles and office buildings, smart homes and buildings are next in this wave of secure keyless entry. With keyless “push to start” now built-into most modern automobiles, and with the rise of facial recognition technology applied for new use cases each day (e.g., opening your mobile device, going through airport security, etc.), a keyless method to enter your home is not only expected, but definitely lagging far behind for many existing homes and buildings.

With rent prices rising in many densely populated cities, residents expect more for their money: more amenities, security, and convenience. With smartphone-based access control, AI-powered, facial recognition, and patented automatic Bluetooth technology, MVI is ready to take the real estate industry by storm, into a new age with new building technology that aligns with the preferences and expectations of their residents.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: MVI is revolutionizing the digital doorman market and RE PropTech space. In 2019, we will release our commercial CRE platform which includes a comprehensive product suite based on our existing system but specifically designed for commercial property use cases. With thorough market research on the needs and pain points of the growing commercial real estate space, we know this platform will be a game-changer for co-working spaces, standard office buildings, fitness centers and gyms, retail spaces, hotels, and much more.
