Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to nablet?
A: nablet is a leading provider of media processing technologies. Many of our team members have been working on codecs and related components for almost 20 years, and helped create the broadcast industry’s de facto standard codecs. We also specialize in automated content recognition, deinterlacing, denoising, frame rate conversion, digital fingerprinting and watermarking.
In just five years, nablet has developed an extensive product line as well as a strong and interesting client base. For example, Intel is a long-time customer that we do codec optimization for. Other clients include Sony, IBM, Saab, BD and many more leading companies.

Q: You’ve recently released a suite of plugins to support the workflow of professional Sony video formats for the Avid MediaCentral Platform; tell us something more?
A: Most nablet team members have extensive experience with professional broadcast acquisition formats, and many worked closely with Sony earlier in their careers. So nablet was the clear choice to take over development of the AMA plugins from Sony.
Q: What are main benefits of using the nablet AMA plugins for Sony?
A: : Like the previous Sony versions, the plugins allow editors and content creators to work efficiently with popular Sony video formats in the Avid® MediaCentral® Platform via Avid Media Access.
They enable users to link, play and edit Sony’s XAVC/XDCAM and SRMASTER formats including the new X-OCN format. They also support export of XAVC and SR SStP (MPEG-4 SStP) formats.
Avid solutions are widely used in time-sensitive applications where there can be no compromises in performance and reliability. nablet works closely with Avid to ensure ongoing support for the latest Avid software releases.
We are planning to release additional AMA plugins with features such as GPU-assisted transcoding.

Q: Who are the primary users of nablet products and what are some of the key challenges you are helping them solve?
A: Our users range from professional video editors and content creators to large companies, all of whom need fast and reliable codecs and processing tools. We handle those components for clients so they can focus on other facets of development while knowing that their media needs are being taken care of with utmost quality.
Q: What are your plans for 2017?
A: We plan to continue our strong codec-related research and development, increase our customer base, extend our lineup of plugins and pro applications, and open an office in the United States.
