Listen to this article

Jenna Rutschman, is the owner and strategist of up-and-coming Tucson digital agency, Left of West and co-founder of The Bathroom Sink an innovative online tool changing the way people buy bath products. Early in her career Jenna was eager to immerse herself in digital marketing, web development process and understand the importance of strategic client guidance. Her career within agencies took her to small and large firms in Phoenix, Arizona until she and her husband decided to take their family back to a now bustling and growing Tucson, Arizona (where they both attended University of Arizona). Dedicated to her clients, Jenna is a friendly, collaborative force within the growing digital entrepreneur landscape in Arizona.

Jenna-Rutschman Q: Jenna, tell us something more about Left of West and your core competence?

A: Left of West is a digital consulting firm that focuses on helping small businesses move into the digital landscape. Our core expertise is focused in digital strategy, web development, branding, online marketing and social media. Aside from our consulting work, we have our product development lab. In our lab we focus on thinking up new web based products that don’t currently exists. We then research them, test them and bring them to market.

Q: Is there anything that set Left of West apart from similar companies?

A: We focus on embracing our technical side as well as our natural inclination to be dreamers. Because we have our product lab, we can tinker and come up with new and innovative ways to market our own products and take what we learned to our clients. We are a virtual based company that is built around professionals who love what they do and at the end of the day we want to grow as long-term partners with our clients.

Q: What is The Bathroom Sink?

A: The Bathroom Sink’s main goal is to ensure that you never have to run out to the store to buy bath products again. The Bathroom Sink is an inexpensive tool ($3 a month) that will remind you to buy your products before you ever run out.is a website that helps remind users to buy daily bath products such as toothpaste and body wash. It is truly unique in the market place because you have many options to buy your toiletries but the majority of buyers are still running out to the local drugstore to buy products. The Bathroom Sink is set up to use information provided by members regarding their bath product preferences and then it sends a notification to remind them to buy it. We are hoping to change the way people shop for their bath product very similar to how Netflix started. You have many options to buy bath products such as shampoo and body wash but still manage to forget to refill the product you need. That is where we come in.

Q: How did the idea for The Bathroom Sink come about, and when did you launch?

A: The idea came through a few product ideas we were kicking around and the fact that every time I went to Target I would buy $100 worth of items and forget the body wash that I needed. Talking with my business partner Joe Doucett about the basic idea he really captured the helpful nature of the site and we started putting our plans in motion. Our beta site launched in February of 2016. We are seeing a lot of positive response and growth in our first few weeks. The product seems to really resonate with the 18-24 year old market. We have seen really positive response in this segment likely because they are juggling school, work, moving to new cities and starting a career. Taking an errand off their plate is really helpful.

Q: What are your plans?

A: Our plans are to really listening to our initial beta users, taking their feedback and patterns of how they are using the site to help make decisions about future features and site updates. Based on the feedback we received quickly after beta launch, we have added more products to choose from and will be kicking our email marketing up a notch to keep our members informed of changes. We are also teaming up with some beauty experts to provide product reviews and helpful timesaving tips. The Bathroom Sink is a totally new way to think about buying your daily bath products. Our hope is to lighten the load of our users so they can free up time to get outside for a hike, work on a project and spend more time with friends and family.
