Just like a key to your house and a key to your car GK-Chain is the key to your computer. The GateKeeper key fob automatically logs you off of your PC when taken out of proximity to your computer.

Alexander Lee from GateKeeper’s team talks with us about GK-Chain:
Q: How did you come up with the idea for GK-Chain?
A: Exploring Bluetooth Low Energy devices and looking at applications in daily life, we found that a lot of companies have strict guidelines for employees regarding computer privacy, but they are not followed.
Using the Bluetooth low energy, we found that it would be possible to create a device that senses proximity to the computer and use that to lock and unlock it.
Further, this can be used as a two factor authentication system – you would need your GateKeeper and enter your password to log on.
With a long battery life, this seems like an ideal – easy to use – solution to ensure privacy and security.
Q: Tell us please what are the biggest benefits of using GK-Chain?
A: No more worries about leaving your computer unlocked at home or at work. The moment you walk away from your machine, it will be locked. Clinics and hospitals can now make sure that computers with vital data are never left unlocked. Small businesses can now easily implement two-factor authentication to limit access to computers.
Administrators will be able to log employee access to computers if needed.
In addition, with its tracking app, users can attach the GK to their valuables and track them if they are lost. So, if you cannot find your keys in the morning after a night of partying, just load up the GateKeeper app and locate them easily. Waiting for luggage at the airport is a pain. With the GateKeeper inside each bag, you can get a notification when the bag comes in range.
Q: What is your message to GateKeeper supporters?
A: Thank you! We are scheduled to ship out your GateKeepers by the first or second week of August. We are working on new form factors – such as ID badges – that will be more suitable for businesses.
