Below is our interview with Jack Shanes, Director of Sales and Channel Development at Rettach:
Q: Jack, what’s your startup story?
A: Rettach was incubated by Naya Ventures, a Dallas-based VC fund. The idea for Rettach was born from the frustration of managing all the files we receive in our email and trying to organize them on a regular basis while saving them in our cloud storage. We found it to be a hassle to manage all these files, especially when it’s time to find them, use them, share them, or just make sure they are backed up. We looked for an existing solution that worked with all our email and storage accounts that automatically take the files from our email and seamlessly organized and save them directly in our cloud storage accounts. We quickly found that there was no one solution that specifically integrated Outlook, Office 365, G Suite and other email providers with our DropBox, OneDrive, Box cloud storage accounts. From this idea, we built and developed Rettach.

Q: What is unique about Rettach and how does it stand out from competition?
A: Rettach, is both our company and product name. Rettach as a company is a team of seasoned business and technology professionals who come from Microsoft, Intellys and other great technology companies focused on building smart, simple, and high-performance services. We stand out because we understand the frustration of taking all the technology services we buy to run our business and trying to make them work together in better, more cost-effective way. We also have extensive experience working through our reseller channel. We understand that MSPs, VARs, and Service Providers are the last mile to the customer. They take care of their customers better than we can. We’re able to focus on giving the reseller the tools they need to service their customers’ needs for cloud services better while providing additional value that separates them even further from their competition.
Q: You’ve recently launched a service that enables automated connection from email service providers to cloud storage provider; could you tell us something more?
A: Rettach, our product, simplifies the time consuming, laborious task of filing, organizing, finding, sharing, and backing-up email attachments and files. It provides an automated service that captures attachments from email services (O365, Exchange, Gmail, Mail, etc.), saves and organizes these attachments to virtually any cloud storage service (OneDrive, Google Storage, DropBox, etc.). Using our templates or creating your own rules, Rettach then creates the file structure in the cloud storage service. Running automatically 24/7/365 in the background, Rettach provides immediate value by capturing attachments from emails, past to present, automatically placing them into the cloud storage you choose. Many of our customers are surprised by the sheer volume of data they thought lost in their inboxes, which now they can search in their cloud storage accounts exactly how they set it up.
Because Rettach is a SaaS platform, there is no user performance hit and is incredibly easy to implement. It takes a few seconds, no need to change anything about existing email or cloud services infrastructure and is platform agnostic available on Mac, PC, iOS and Android. Beyond the productivity gains users enjoy, Rettach adds enterprise levels of security and controls. With administrator control panels, organizations or their IT service providers can manage users access to only add company-approved storage services to their email. Administrators are also able to set policies on how attachments and files are stored and structured for security, back up and continuity through a robust and configurable rule set. They also gain full visibility of users, their accounts and related activity. For additional security and compliance, Rettach does not store any customer emails or files. These are in the same services (email and cloud storage accounts) already in use so there is no additional exposure of data at rest. Rettach secures data in transit between the email provider and cloud storage account ensuring all files are encrypted end-to-end. Users can be confident they will continue to be compliant if HIPPA or other standards need to be followed.

Q: Who is your ideal client and why?
A: Rettach is useful to any busy professional who regularly receives and sends files through email and wants a better way to use their cloud storage services. In many cases this would be the cloud storage available with their Office 365 subscriptions. Rettach is beneficial to enterprises large and small including Freelancers, Mid-Size Businesses, Non-Profits, Public Administrations, or a Small Business; Rettach helps professionals better organize their data with the benefit of the security and availability of their files in their cloud storage accounts.
Q: What are your plans for next four months?
A: We plan to announce more features and integrations in the coming months. Our roadmap is dictated by users’ feedback and we are constantly seeking their input. Microsoft SharePoint and Teams integration have been requested by both partners and customers and is coming soon. We are also taking great pains to help our resellers and customers by adding features to our control panels and additional reporting functionality.
