Satellite Spirits Recently Introduced Their Feature Label, South Fork Vodka, To The Northern California Craft Spirits Scene

Satellite Spirits was started by Dan Kennerson and Jonathan Dorfman in 2018. They saw a gap in the Distilled Spirits market, and believed that craft, high quality vodka didn’t have to be so expensive. Here is our recent interview with Dan Kennerson, Vice President and Founder of Satellite Spirits:

Q: What’s the story behind your company? How did you start?

A: We (Jon and Dan) met at a research facility in 2010, and quickly became friends. The research initially was in Nuclear fusion, but after the grant work was finished, we began the search for commercially viable uses of our technology. Through this search, a technique was created that excelled at improving the taste and finish of distilled spirits. Once we realized just how effective this technology was, we began the paperwork to create a distilled spirits company, and launched South Fork Vodka near the end of 2018.

Q: You’ve recently introduced your feature label, South Fork Vodka, to the Northern California craft spirits scene; could you tell us something more?

A: We wanted to start with vodka as a showcase of what our technique can do- which is to create an exceptionally smooth, well rounded spirit. Vodka is intended as a blank slate for your cocktails, and I believe we have set a new bar for what that means. South Fork Vodka is our flagship spirit, and we believe it goes head to head with anyone on the top shelf.

Q: South Fork Vodka has made its way into over 150 retail locations, bars, and restaurants. What makes it so good?

A: As the makers, we really seek the best out in every aspect of creating South Fork Vodka. It is made from American grown, GMO and Gluten free Corn, distilled six times, and combined with only the best Sierra Nevada mountain spring water we could source. We put it through our proprietary technique and we are left with an exceptional product- and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We take such pride in crafting each batch that we hand sign each bottle, and give it its’ own unique bottle and batch number. This quality has been noticed by our customers, but also by tasting panels and critics. South Fork Vodka has been awarded Double gold and Best in Class by the Craft Distiller’s Spirits competition in Sonoma County, as well as a Gold medal and 92 point “Excellent” rating from the Beverage Tastings Institute’s 2019 International Review of Spirits. In fact, We’ve won a medal in every competition we’ve entered so far!

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: For the time being, we’re mostly focusing on bringing our award winning vodka to Northern California, but as it gains momentum, we’re also working on bringing out our botanical and Gin lines, as well as getting everything together to begin aging whisky.
