The Scala Compute Platform is an end-to-end, secure and hyper-scalable high-performance computing (HPC) platform that enables enterprises of all sizes to leverage the power of Big Compute on-demand, on the cloud. Below is our recent interview with Shiv Kumar, Co-Founder of Scala Computing:
Q: For those who haven’t heard of it, what is the best way to describe Scala Computing?
A: We remove the cost and complexity of managing specialized computing infrastructure by providing seamless access to public cloud infrastructure, thereby enabling our clients to focus on their applications- not their compute requirements.
Q: You’ve recently raised $5M in Series A round; could you tell us something more?
A: All our investors from the Seed round, led by David Miller’s Hardhill Trust, are very excited on our growth trajectory based on the path-breaking solutions we are creating for our enterprise clients and committed to participate in the next phase of our journey.
This round will help Scala to make increased investments on hiring relevant domain experts, client success leaders and business development executives as we seek to broaden the existing client engagements and develop go-to-market for new verticals.
Q: Can you tell us something more about The Scala Compute Platform? What makes it unique?
A: Apart from the intrinsic features of a typical Cloud HPC platform offering on-demand, zero queue time, hyper-secure features, the SCP(Scala Compute Platform) has purpose-built functionality for each of the target verticals / use cases to offer a highly intuitive UI & dashboards, pre-processing workflow, remote visualization, privileged partnerships with software providers in each category to customize and optimize the applications on SCP and API’s to interface with leading open source and third party software applications to support diverse workload classes and testing environments
Q: What types of solutions do you provide to your clients?
A: We help our clients deploy and manage their complex simulations on the cloud at over 50 % lesser run times, with unlimited flexibility for their users to launch applications from their desktops with zero dependence on internal DevOps/Infrastructure resources
- ·We help customize, parallelize, modularize Network Simulations applications to enable Data Center simulations at scale, in conjunction with a variety of network equipment models
- We drive collaboration-on-cloud for large enterprises seeking to establish a unified, integrated product development cycles across their global design and manufacturing partners, in order to accelerate product’s launch and reduce time to market
Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: For the immediate 12 month horizon, we are confident of establishing Scala as the category leader in Cloud HPC for the 3 markets we are engaged in – Weather & Water, Engineering(CAE/EDA) and Network Simulations for Data Centers.
