Below is our interview with Christoph Ganz, President & CEO – Sika North America:
Q: You’ve recently announced the start of your innovative campaign: My Summer with Sika; tell us something more?
A: Knowing that the construction business can be a somewhat conservative market, we wanted to find a unique way to promote the passion and stories of our partners by using some new digital channels.. So we came up with this idea: two of our newest employees, Eric and Matt, will travel around the country to meet our partners, learn about projects they are working on and convey their stories. Uploading to an online blog, Matt and Eric publish daily content, including pictures and videos, of these visits. Besides this creation of content, it’s a great way to transmit knowledge and to stay in touch with our markets. We already have numerous partners that are reaching out to us to be a part of this great adventure! It’s amazing to see just how important the sharing of knowledge is to them.

Q: Why do your partners choose to work with you?
A: As a company with more than 100 years of experience, Sika’s mantra is “Building Trust.” That’s exactly what we do and why our partners love us. Q: Could you tell us something more about Sika USA, your products and solutions?
A: One of the important things to realize about our products, and something many people aren’t aware of, is that you’re in contact with them every day. From the bonding agents of your vehicle’s windshield to the roofs on a stadium or office building, you see us without even knowing it! Speaking on a corporate level, we are active in concrete, waterproofing, industry, automotive, sealing, bonding, roofing, flooring and restoration. As we like to say, “Every day, everywhere.”

Q: What do employees love about the company?
A: We try to develop and encourage the entrepreneurial spirit; employees get the opportunity to touch on many different subjects during day-to-day operations. We also support internal mobility and we really take the time to listen to our people. A prime example of this was the “My Summer with Sika” idea, which was generated in a digital workshop that mixed millenials and Generation Y from the production department, human resources, sales, marketing and finance. The idea was a great one! We quickly assembled a task force, led by Marlene Morin, Marketing Manager of our Interior Finishing business and the project came to life just one month later! Our dynamism and entrepeunarial approach were key success factors to the acheivement of this project. I like to think that the Sika spirit is strong in each and every one of our employees!

Q: What can we expect from you in next six months? What are your plans?
A: As I mentioned previously, we’re on a mission to build trust every day, everywhere. And we want to get closer to our partners. Therefore, we‘ve increased our footprint in the United States by building new plants so we can deliver to our markets at a faster clip.
