Smart Cannabis is a holding company that was set up specifically to capitalize on the massive agritech industries involving organic leafy green hydroponic farming and the explosive cannabis market sector. The company’s plans are to grow through strategic company acquisitions, joint ventures with top sector companies, and the introduction of innovative technologies we invent or acquire that meet an essential need in our target markets.

To find out more about Smart Cannabis we sat down with Don Smith Vice President at Smart Cannabis:

Don Smith

Q: What is SMART Cannabis and what is its relationship to Next Generation Farming?

A: Smart Cannabis (OCT PINK: SCNA) is a holding company that was set up specifically to capitalize on the massive agritech industries involving organic leafy green hydroponic farming and the explosive cannabis market sector. The company’s plans are to grow through strategic company acquisition, joint ventures with top sector companies, and the introduction of innovative technologies we invent or acquire that meet an essential need in our target markets.

Next Generation Farming, is a wholly-owned subsidiary acquired by Smart Cannabis in November 2016. The company’s core competency is advanced automated greenhouse systems for the cultivation of organic food and cannabis. In addition, the company is investing in several core software technologies related to the control of an agritech ecosystem in addition to state and federal compliance mechanisms to measure and report cannabis crop production.

Q: How do you feel about the stringent regulations for growing cannabis in California?

A: Stringent regulations for growing cannabis in California are not unlike those associated with other states such as Colorado, Washington and Oregon. All of which have been lauded as the gold standard in regulation. Regulations, for the most part, are for public interest and safety, specifically regulating pesticides, testing, weights and measures, and content identification associated with any cannabis product whether that be flower, edible, concentrate oil, or drinks. I feel very strongly about regulation – not only in California but in any state that has cannabis regulations – and am very hopeful and insistent that the federal rulings adopt at a minimum what the states have determined is safe for the public’s best interest of cannabis.

Q: How does technology help any size grower meet and comply with regulations?

A: Technology is an essential component in the evolution of the commercial cannabis cultivation business. For that matter, it’s essential in the agricultural business. As a commercial cultivator grows in size, so does their need to monitor, manage, and control. In state of the art greenhouse systems, it becomes imperative to keep essential command-and-control infrastructure on demand to manage the business persons investment whether that be agriculture or cannabis. For example, you must be able to monitor remote sites without having to get in the car and physically drive several hours to get to that location. Second, you have to be able to control the climate, temperature, humidity, heating, lighting, nutrients, watering schedules, and, most important, you have to be able to monitor the health of each and every plant in that ecosystem as well as the employees that are tending to such crops. Without the implementation of automation systems in agriculture, in my opinion, it would be impossible for any commercial scale operation to achieve profitability and maintain that consistently.

Q: Tell us about your new SMART App. What makes it unique in the marketplace?

A: Our SMART App, was a programming initiative undertaken by Smart Cannabis and Next Generation Farming to specifically meet the needs of our unique product audience – a group of professional cultivators utilizing advanced greenhouses with the desire to automate their business. The goal of course is to maintain security, increase productivity and prior to diving into the app development space, we searched high and low for even the most generic solutions for automation management and didn’t find anything that would meet the needs for the caliber of operations our clients typically run… so we created one! Our newly released SMART App is newly offered in the Apple App Store and provides complete remote monitoring and control of practically every component in a greenhouse ecosystem.

The SMART App is substantially further ahead in automation and control than any other product we have seen in the marketplace and gives us the ability to allow a cultivator to grow their operation exponentially. Two big innovations within the app are in development and definitely worth noting. One, we have recently partnered with SinglePoint Incorporated (OTCQB: SING), to build in blockchain technology and Bitcoin as a potential currency system so that a commercial cultivator can interact and sell his products directly with the dispensary from within the SMART App itself. Two, in a very short period of time, the Track and Trace software will be unveiled. It will expand upon the basic premise of the SMART App incorporating unprecedented historical and current data from crop yields nutrient requirements and other factors that allow the commercial farmer to tailor the greenhouse environment to best suit their needs for the desired outcome. We’re certain these innovative products will help our clientele reach new heights in productivity.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: Our plans for the future are to continue to aggressively seek out joint venture and acquisition opportunities for Smart Cannabis in a way that allows us to capitalize up on the explosive cannabis industry. That includes ventures that facilitate the company having involvement with growing the plant, providing concentrates for edibles, and other products as soon as federal law allows us to do so. Given that we are a public traded company we, unlike others, will not do any business that makes cannabis revenues a part of our financials. As soon as we have federal legalization, you can bet that we have a plan in place that would transform our business into a multi hundred million dollar business within 30 days. Until then, we intend to dominate the automated greenhouse market, presently valued at over $6 Billion just in California. We see ourselves capturing a substantial part of the cannabis and advanced agritech farming industry and attracting the interest of several Fortune 500 companies that intend to capitalize upon the foundation we’ve built.
