Startup HOKO Helps You Create Smart Links And Drive Traffic To Your Apps

Startup HOKO helps developers to integrate the new Google and Apple’s mobile deep linking standards into mobile apps. Also, it helps developers go beyond Apple and Google’s capabilities, with some advanced tools such as linking though install and metadata passing. Here is our interview with Joaquin Figaredo, CEO of HOKO:

Joaquin FigaredoQ: For those who have never heard of it, tell us what is HOKO and what are the main benefits of using it?

A: HOKO offers a tool for developers that want to integrate the new Google and Apple’s mobile deep linking and indexation standards into their Apps, and enjoy a higher flexibility to control and track their links from a single dashboard.

For those of you that haven’t heard the great benefits of mobile deep linking, think that with it, you can bring users into a specific location within a mobile app, and even trigger actions from outside the app (e.g. add a product to your cart from a link within your newsletter).

We also help developers go beyond Apple and Google’s capabilities, with some advanced tools such as linking though install (deferred deep linking), and metadata passing. Two features that can create personalised landing experiences after install, and highly impactful referral systems.

HOKO is free, simple, and just works! The three premises that we believe developers are looking for today in a deep linking service.

Q: What were the main challenges you faced in developing the service?

A: The biggest challenge has keeping the pace to the evolving deep linking technologies; making sure that our links truly work across systems and devices.

Moreover, building the technology is still half of the effort; as we still had to make it into a real product that fits well in the market. We have been focusing heavily on what developers and growth hackers need: simple implementation, quick onboarding, and easy to manage dashboard.

The user feedback has been highly positive, and many of our new users are developers running away from other services.

Q: Do you have any new features in the pipeline?

A: We want to expand the number of platforms and frameworks we are supporting. We should publish our PhoneGap / Cordova plugin very soon, and a Unity plugin is also on our roadmap.

First we want to build a community of apps through our current platform, and then facilitate them the possibility to connect with other apps in our network. We are aiming for building one of the very first re-engagement platforms, where apps will be able to create smart journeys for the end user while boosting traffic for everyone, and creating more connected experiences. We believe that the future is one in which apps are no longer silos of data – but every user interaction will lead to another app in an interconnected web of apps and devices.”

Q: What is your experience with Seedcamp?

A: Next to the financial funding, Seedcamp provided meaningful support for HOKO. We have been given access to amazing advice and a top-class network. It all started with an extremely dense onboarding week, and since then we regularly talk with expert mentors of various fields, and participate in academy sessions with guest speakers. Seedcamp also provides plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow entrepreneurs in the Seedcamp family and investors.

Q: In terms of what you’ve learned from building HOKO, what advice would you give to future entrepreneurs?

A: Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, reach out to other people for advice and help, iterate fast with your customers to find product market fit, and make sure you use your time well; that’s your most valuable resource.
