Helping commercial audiences better manage operational costs, the Company’s EcoSmart and Symphony intelligent automation platforms are supported by a full-suite of IoT-connected devices that provide in-depth energy usage information and analysis, allowing building operators to reduce energy expenses. Q: Can you discuss your new Symphony platform?

A: Telkonet’s Symphony platform is a one-of-a-kind solution that improves the ability to easily integrate, deploy and commission Internet-of-Things (IoT) solutions for commercial markets. One of the most difficult problems with IoT deployments is the ability to select products from multiple vendors that use individual communication transports and protocols and successfully pair these products into one convenient software platform for management and reporting. In addition, issues caused during deployment that delay completion, caused by an inability to test and commission the project can exacerbate the difficulty and frustration with commercial IoT projects. Telkonet’s Symphony platform was developed from the ground up to alleviate these issues by creating a layer of obfuscation for commercial IoT deployments. Through the provisioning of Telkonet’s multi-wireless gateway offering Bluetooth, WiFi, ZigBee, Cellular and Ethernet, Symphony enables disparate products and services to connect with one common platform throughout deployment. The Symphony Composer provides a GUI interface for choosing individual devices to install into specific room types and selecting which attributes of those devices interact with the other devices in room. Finally, the Symphony Conductor is an offsite single-pane-of-glass interface to assist with deployment and testing that’s able to function without an existing Internet connection, ideal for new-build environments. The Symphony Conductor provides a comprehensive test and commission report that ensures an installation is successfully completed and identifies possible issues that may have existed prior to the IoT deployment for remediation and repair. Symphony was created as an evolutionary tool from an understanding of existing deficiencies with equipment, communication, software, process and deployments, and provides resolutions for these shortcomings in new IoT deployments moving forward.

Q: Why is now the time for a technology solution like Telkonet?

A: The days of solely ROI driving adoption of innovation are coming to a close and it’s now about savings and comprehensive end-user experiences. Not just creating one, but one that is consistent with the home environment. Guests will expect their hospitality environment to have the same technology they typically use in their homes. Take internet service adoption as an example. Once internet service became a standard in homes, commercial occupants came to expect it in their hotels, dormitories, shops and restaurants too. It has been adopted by commercial markets and properties and has become a standard throughout. These days, as more people adopt smart thermostats at home, we also see the functionality adopted at withing commercial properties including hotels, dormitories and healthcare properties. The same applies to other types of automation like lighting, power outlets, door locks and blinds. What you see in your homes today is what you’ll see in all commercial buildings including hotels and healthcare facilities in the future. It’s a slow adoption to be sure. So what’s cutting edge today is going to be what’s standard in these same buildings several years from now.

In order to ensure market leadership and technological growth, we’re evaluating the strategic opportunities available to maximize growth and market penetration. In addition, with several new products being release over the next few quarters, we’re continuing to demonstrate our innovative technological leadership and expand our platform offering.
