Q: Eli, tell us more about your background?
A: I am a dentist near NYC. I have spent quite some time treating children including those with developmental delays. I have noticed a pattern in that some parents have difficulty in getting an accurrate and early diagnosis for their children with developmental delays.
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to Childstones?
A: So many children have developmental delays yet struggle to get an accurate diagnosis. The difficulty will often lay in the parents inablity to provide an accurate developmental history the evaluator. Some times developmental pediatricians will study old Early Intervention reports but still fail to get a comprensive and diagnostic picture. These children will often go through years of evalautions and therapy before parents realize that their children might not have recieved the correct treatment.
The Childstones App is geared to correct this trend by providing parents a simple way to create a video record and safegaurd their children’s developmental history so it can be studied by professionals. Our goal is to give therapists and developmental pediatricians the abilty to make an accurate diagnosis as early as possible so these children can recieve the correct form of treatment as early as possible. There is a certain window of opportunity children have as they develop. We want to get them the correct treatment within that time frame.

Q: Can you give us insights into your features?
A: The Childstones app will enable parents (or caretakers) to take short video records of their young children performing diagnostic developmental milestones activities. The app will then categorize and save those videos for years. The videos will be separated into Speech, physical, occupational, and social categories. Years later, any evaluator, therapist, or developmental pediatrician can review those short videos to see for themselves with their own eyes, how the child performed milestones activities. This app will help children with delays receive more accurate diagnosis at an earlier age. It would prove most valuable if Early Intervention Therapists and Pediatricians would advise their client families to utilize this app. It will empower parents to help their children and if implemented correctly will change the landscape of developmental delays diagnostics.
Q: What have been the biggest challenges starting and growing your company?
A: The first challenge was to find a developer that could help me develop my idea into a reality. The second was raising the funds to pay for it. Finally, now that we have launched we are working on creating our initail user base. An app of this nature generally requires educating parents about the need and importance of utizling this app. Of course broadcasting the message on a limited budget takes some ingenuity as well.

Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: I have been asked to speak at various conferences to professionals in Early Intervention. I hope to continue to get the word out so this movement can grow. I would like to create a new standard of care for our young children and I want to get Pediatricians, therapists, and parents onboard.
