Below is our interview with Alan Zou, CTO at United Bus Technology:
Q: Alan, what advantage does UBT have over its competitors?
A: UBT understands that the motor coach industry has some great strides to make in order to catch up to the airline industry in terms of the technology curve. UBT also understands the grassroots culture and basic needs that both drivers and passengers have. We feel that they deserve a better class of travel, and we are passionate about upping the standards of the motor coach industry. Our connection to these people is our greatest strength. To that end, we are proud of our contract-free policy. Our performance speaks for itself, and if our service or products are not up to the standards of our consumers, we offer consequence-free termination.

Q: Where do you want to be in the next 2 years?
A: We want to be the most exciting name in bus technologies. We want UBT to be a brand that coaches can be proud to show off as part of their travel experience. We hope to continue making partnerships, developing interesting new projects, and innovating and perfecting our current staple products, like the NetBox®. We want to be able to help as many bus travelers and drivers to have a more pleasurable experience and further the goal of making the bus industry more appealing as a travel option.
Q: Could you explain the function and advantages of your NetBox?
A: The NetBox performs four key functions in order to elevate the experience of bus travel for both drivers and passengers. It offers our MegaWiFi, which serves up to seventy concurrent users, allows for unlimited data usage, and boasts a download speed of 100 Mbps. This speed will doubly increase with the release of the second generation of NetBox. The second feature is the availability of OnCoach Cinema®, the product of our partnership with Swank Motion Pictures, which allows riders to access a library of the latest Hollywood movies and stream them directly to their devices. This is also a service that requires no maintenance from the driver, allowing them to focus on the road instead of solving entertainment issues. The third feature is the MegaTrac® fleet management system. This allows for operators and passengers to track their buses, and gives the best GPS tracking and ETA reports available. And the fourth feature is our integrated Electronic Logging Device, which grants drivers the easiest and fastest way to log their active hours. No longer will they be required to use pen and paper to dictate exactly when and where they drove. Other features are available as well, but these four features are, in our mind, the most important and unique features the NetBox has to offer.

Q: You’ve recently announced a new partnership with with DC Trail; tell us something more?
A: We could not be more excited about our partnership with DC Trails. Since we are based out of Mclean, VA, it is important to us that we be able to help out within our local community. The Hop-On Hop-Off Tour that DC Trails offers is the premier way to experience the nation’s capital, and we are excited to be lending our technology and manpower to their cause. These tours, along with all the others that DC Trails offers, are now powered with UBT technology, elevating the experience to an even higher level of quality. We want to help ensure that DC Trails continues to be the number one way to visit Washington, D.C., and we believe that the way to do that is to always be evolving and finding new ways to impress those who take these buses.
