Below is our recent interview with Gene Rogers, VP of Marketing at vMOX:

Gene Rogers

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to vMOX?

A: Sure. Some people refer to us a Wireless Expense Management (WEM) company, but we are so much more than that. vMOX helps businesses significantly lower their mobility costs, and we apply technology and automation to simplify the management of their corporate mobility environments.

Mobile communications, whether it’s smartphones, tablets or Internet-of-Things connected devices, has become vital to most businesses. But the wide variety of devices, service providers, plans and features, combined with variable elements like employee travel and turnover, make the management of a corporate mobility environment really, really challenging.

Our patented optimization technology scrutinizes every element of a client’s mobility environment every day to minimize costs, increase efficiency and provide as near real-time visibility as possible, giving clients more insight into and control of their mobile assets.

All our work is done behind the scenes, with no change in device, carrier or end-user experience. We work with over sixty providers, including Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile, and on average we reduce existing bills by 20% to 40% each month, but we have some where the savings we’ve uncovered is over 50%. And we even achieve these savings levels in environments already managed by competitive Telecom Expense Management providers. Best of all, our risk-free pricing model is performance based with no upfront costs at all. So if we don’t find savings, the client doesn’t pay. But we always find savings.

Q: What is Mobility Cost Optimization?

A: Many folks assume that unlimited plans are always cost-effective, but when you analyze the actual usage, that’s rarely the case. Optimization ensures that a customer pays the least amount possible each and every billing cycle. A major way this is accomplished is by proactively aligning actual mobile voice and data usage with the most appropriate available rate plans. We recently posted a fun video depicting some of our optimization techniques on the homepage of our website.

vMOX has developed an optimization technology, which was recently patented by the US Patent and Trademark Office, that analyzes live usage feeds from carriers for each line in service, as well as data from clients internally-used travel, HR, service management systems, like Concur, Workday and ServiceNow, to determine the best plan and feature mix within that billing cycle. For example, when data from a corporate travel system tells up about an employee’s upcoming trip out of the country, we’ll enable international calling on the employee’s device upon arrival, and deactivate it on the departure date, ensuring that you only pay for capabilities when they are required.

Q: What makes your approach different?

A: The traditionally approach to optimization was reactive and quite manual. Companies would study monthly bills and Excel spreadsheets and make the changes they felt were appropriate for the next billing cycle.

Conversely, vMOX’s approach is proactive with automated processes. Our technology leverages customer-specific data from APIs with carriers and client systems to analyze and make adjustments every single day, so our clients don’t miss even a penny of potential savings. These carrier integrations also enable us to transmit and track service change orders as quickly and accurately as possible, allowing customers to see savings benefits even faster.

On top of all that, we have an internally-developed client portal that aggregates and analyses all of this data, offering customers customized reporting on inventory, usage, cost and trends across all carriers and locations. We even have clients utilizing the portal for device procurement and corporate policy compliance.

Q: You mentioned that your technology was recently awarded a patent. How big of an accomplishment is that?

A: It’s a game changer, for both vMOX and our industry. Almost half of our employees are involved in R & D, and this patent validates the years of research, development and refinement that has gone into our optimization platform. It also underscores our position as a leader in corporate mobility cost reduction and lifecycle management.

The mobility industry is so dynamic. Technology, devices and available plans are constantly changing. But the tools and reactive process that businesses use to manage their mobility have for the most part stayed the same. Out technology changes that, disrupting this status quo and allowing customers to achieve maximum savings and optimal productivity with minimal effort. And we now have a patent to prove that.

Q: What can we expect from vMOX in the future?

A: We will monitor industry trends, listen to our customers and continue to innovate. We’ve gone head to head with most of the players in the industry and thus far no one has anything near the sophistication and capability of our optimization platform. But we won’t rest on our laurels. Our team is continually evaluating new technologies, like Artificial Intelligence, Robotic Process Automation, Machine Learning and device-level applications, that could bring more benefits to our platform. For vMOX the best is yet to come.
