GuruSquad is developing software solutions for the data replication and migration for businesses of all size. GuruSquad has vision to deliver a full enterprise replication suite that will fit any company of any size no matter how geographically dispersed they are.

Below is our recent interview with Ahmed Amin from GuruSquad team:

Q: Tell us something more about GuruSquad and your core competence?

A: GuruSquad LLC started in November 2001 as a consulting firm that specialized in data center implementation and migration. As years past, GuruSquad became “the experts” in data replication and migration for many small to large businesses. With data growing exponentially at a high rate, backing it up and replicating it to off-site locations became very cumbersome. GuruSquad found the need to create tools that made such migrations easy, seamless, and error free. This is when GuruSquad entered the space of software solutions which is late 2003.

Q: Who is your ideal customer and why?

A: Currently with 20,000 customers worldwide, our customer base varies; many of which come from the government sector such as department of homeland security, and USDA.gov sector and fortune 500 such as ATT, Fujitsu, and many others. We also have many small to large business as well home users. GuruSquad believes in creating enterprise grade solutions and making them affordable to businesses of all sizes. Pricing pointing our products so that they are affordable to small businesses helps all businesses to place an enterprise grade solution in every business. As for enterprises, we made it easier for them to order thousands of licenses instead of just a few for mission critical servers. Some of the enterprise customers they negotiated enterprise wide licenses so that all their computers (servers and workstations) are licensed to install our data replication products.

We have clients from pretty much all industries: Manufacturing, Government, Oil and refinery, Aviation, Law firms, educational, non-profit, financial, advertising, technology firms, and the list goes on.

Q: Could you explain the function and advantages of your GS Rich Copy 360?

A: GS RichCopy 360 is not a new product to the market. Its first version came out since late 2003 but it was only a tool that was used internally by our consultants to perform data replication\migration in various projects we worked on. As years have passed and data replication and migration became very high in demand especially with the rate of data growth. We decided to make GS RichCopy 360 a universal product and sell it to our current customers (in 2011) and in 2013 we made it available to the public.

Given that it is a matured product (currently version 7) it does the following out of the box:

Copy files in-parallel (multithreading): Our proprietary patent pending technology distributes multiple threads through logical cores providing a robust level of maximum performance during file copy operations that our competitors can’t begin to match.
Copy NTFS Windows permissions, attributes, and date and time stamps.
Long Path Name support: GS RichCopy 360 can fully copy/move files and folders exceeding 260 characters long. No need to tweak it or pay it any special consideration.
Run as a Service and User Our Proprietary Scheduler: Manage migrations (Copy/Move Jobs) with a “set it and forget it mentality,” while Automate your replication to run multiple times per day or every day.
Copy Open Files: Copy and backup open files and databases with GS RichCopy 360. This includes Outlook files, Quicken databases, open SQL databases, documents, etc. GS RichCopy 360 is fully integrated with the Volume Shadow Service (VSS) on Windows.
Send an Email when Job is done: GS RichCopy 360 can be easily set to send you an email summary when a job fails, succeeds or both. It can use your local SMTP server or use any email hosting cloud provider such as Gmail.
Simple Easy to Use Interface and Wizard Driven.
Ability to include and Exclude Files and Folders.
Unlimited Support: With the purchase of any of our products, we provide unlimited email, phone, and web chat support at no additional cost.
Full Visibility and Single Pane of Glass: Administrator can see each job as they run and what each thread is even copying. All the jobs are seen and managed from one single screen.

These are just some of the key features included. Pricing it all at $49.99 where our competitors sell a license for more than $1000 let alone some options are offered as add-ons.

Q: What makes GS RichCopy 360 stand out from other competitors?

A: What we are told from our customers:

Intuitive design and simple to use (most of our customers are up and running within minutes before they even read the administrator guide).
Customer service (Pre-sales and post sales).
Price. Most of our real competitors charge between $1000 to $3000 a license for replication. Our software is really is in the same class as these competitors and we are in the same enterprise grade (we are in many fortune 500 companies in wide scale)

Q: What can we expect from GuruSquad in next six months? What are your plans?

A: We are always working on evolving and improving our software. In the very near future we are looking to release a few great features such as block-level copying, real-time copying, encryption, and compression capability just to name a few of the key features. We really listen hard to our customers and we have a lot of great feature requests. We are putting these requests in the pipeline and working hard to deliver solutions optimized to their fullest potential. Let alone our vision to deliver a full enterprise replication suite that will fit any company of any size no matter how geographically dispersed they are.
