Below is our recent interview with Brian Spero, Director of Strategic Development at Caveau:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to Caveau?
A: Caveau is the French word for “Vault”. We are the travel and hospitality marketing division of PII Secure LLC., a data security provider which also serves the telecom, banking and pharmaceutical industries. It’s an all-in-one software solution for safeguarding personal data, card not present purchases and booking transactions by eliminating manually handling over voice, email and faxes. It’s like an unhackable vault that makes it safe for your clients to share information and complete financial transactions. Businesses are able to achieve and maintain PCI-DSS compliance and reduce risks associated with GDPR.

Q: You’ve recently announced partnership with Grindrod Travel to reduce the risks of GDPR and PCI-DSS; could you tell us something more?
A: Yes, as a leading corporate travel management company based in South Africa, Grindrod has scores of representatives handling thousands of credit cards manually over the phone and by email and fax machine every year. With General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) going into enforcement in the European Union this past May, the company was committed to remaining compliant with the latest client data and credit card security requirements. You see, even though Grindrod isn’t located in the EU, since it handles the personal information of European citizens, it’s required to comply with GDPR. So we worked together to develop a customized solution to lessons their risks, but more importantly, to protect the data of their clients as this is how Grindrod makes their revenue and maintains their reputation.
Q: What are the benefits of using your platform?

Q: Why is it important to understand and to align with GDPR and PCI Regulations?
A: It’s simple. Company’s use personal data to profit and build their wealth. They have an ongoing obligation to protect that data if they want to continue to profit from it. Should businesses not comply or be aligned to GDPR and PCI then they shouldn’t be using personal data to drive revenues. Citizens have a right to know how their data will be used. By not complying, they open themselves up to all kinds of troubles including reprimands, bans and fines that can climb into the millions.

Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: Because of the quality and flexibility of our service and the timeliness of our launch, we’ve witnessed an amazingly positive response. Everyday we’re receiving requests for product demonstrations and signing new clients around the world from every major continent. We’re also continually exploring possibilities with partnerships and already have some major development projects in negotiation. So, the sky’s the limit.
Today, Caveau is primarily providing solutions for hotels, OTAs and booking engines and all different types of travel, transportation and hospitality companies. In the future, I believe Caveau, along with PII Secure LLC., will be the standard software and service for helping a broad range of industries and stakeholders meet the challenges of keeping financial transactions and personal data safe and secure.
