Expert360 Raises $10.17M Series B Funding To Provide Clients With Access To The Right Talent, At The Right Time

Q: You’ve recently announced $10.17 Million in Series B Round; could you tell us something more?

A: Demand for high quality freelance consultants is growing and the Series B investment will enable us to carve out a bigger slice of the $600B global consulting industry by offering a host of new features and functionality for both clients and consultants, as well as continued international expansion. This round of investment brings total funding to $21M.

The investment was led by Australia’s biggest VC fund AirTree Ventures and we’ve welcomed their co-founder Daniel Petre to the board. Prior to his role at AirTree, Petre worked as the managing director for Microsoft in Australia and we’re excited to tap into his expertise.

Q: What is the story behind Expert360, how did you start?

A: When I was a junior at global management consulting firm Bain & Co, I spotted a flaw in the way traditional professional services operated and started looking at how I could fix it. Not only did the conventional model not work for many companies, it also didn’t suit consultants who although highly skilled, preferred contract rather than full-time work.

A short time later, Expert360 was born. Essentially, we engaged the best consultants, stripped away the overheads and inefficiencies and put them on a digital platform to allow for better collaboration with large companies. Four years and three investment rounds later, we have over 15,000 vetted consultants on the platform across 90 countries and large businesses around the globe.

Q: What kind of services do you offer to your clients?

A: We offer our clients access to the right talent, at the right time, at a lower cost. The professional service industry is seeing a trend toward increasing demand for specialisation and instead of corporates engaging a team of generic consultants, they can work directly with the individual who has the necessary experience and skills for the project in mind.

Q: What makes you stand out from your competition?

A: Expert360 has found a niche within the professional workforce, focusing on white collar expert freelancers and consultants. Our marketplace has resonated with executives who want to find high-quality consultants rapidly and without the cost and overheads of the traditional model. Expert360 is the provider of choice for businesses wanting execute high impact projects. As the business has grown, the value of projects available on the platform has steadily grown, with projects now valued at up to $700,000.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: Over the next year, Expert360 plans to bring additional functionality to the platform that allows businesses to easily work with individuals in their personal or professional network, manage their contingent and consulting workforce and streamline the team building and freelancer on-boarding process. Given our success domestically, we also plan to continue our international expansion.
